Official First Meeting

A few days later, Remy sat at a dinner that was a couple of blocks away from his office building.

He liked coming here. The food, in his opinion, was done right and had that one taste that all beings loved that always brought them back for more.

He still hadn't found a replacement assistant. Half of the applicants that he interviewed were more interested in his good looks and physique and getting into his bed then the job itself. The other half weren't even qualified or handle even the pressure of being his assistant...for an hour!

Remy pinched the bridge of his nose, trying in vain to block the migraine that was coming on from it all.

Then, that scent hit him again. He looked up and searched the dinner with his eyes, subtly, not wanting to draw attention to himself. Then his ears twitched at a voice, he heard her quiet voice once again before a loud voice of the cook in the back accompanied it,

" I DON'T CARE OR GIVE A FLYING F**K IF YOU'RE SORRY GAUGE! IF YOU PAID MORE ATTENTION TO WHAT THE CUSTOMER WAS ORDERING AND SAYING, I WOULDN'T HAVE TO REMAKE THE DAMN ORDER! "

Remy watched as the cook yelled at the woman from a few days' prior, Gauge, was what he called her.

Of course, the cook, Charles, was also the owner of the dinner. And this looks like it was not the first time that Gauge had mistaken an order. But she couldn't have been here that long, had she?

Though, this was the first time Remy's came to sit down here in a long time now, months, actually. Having had sent his former assistant here when he was busy in meetings or going over the books and other things he had and needed to do to keep his business going.

And when his former assistant brought his food and drink back at the office, the food was correctly made.

" I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE, " Charles continued to yell at the woman, who looked like he was going to hit her, she kept flinching and watching Charles hands and kept a good distance away from him and any weapons that may be within reach, if Charles did try to go after her, she'd have the advantage to bolt and get away.

" YOU'RE FIRED!! " Charles finished yelling, grabbing the nearest thing in his reach, not seeming to realize that he had picked up a knife, but Gauge had and so did Remy.

Charles cocked his arm back, yelling once again as he threw the blade, " GET YOUR WORTHLESS ASS OUT OF HERE!! "

Gauge raised her arms to block the knife coming at her, but the hit or pain never came. She looked chanced a look and saw a tall, fit, sandy haired man there, his sandy hair was shoulder length with part of it tied back in a small bun in the back over the rest of the hair.

He was standing in front of her with his arms bent in front of him.

Remy reacted on instinct and used his power to teleport in front of Gauge, protecting her from the blade, had he not, the knife would have struck her, the blade of the knife was facing him in his hand, having caught it in his bare hand.

Charles liked to keep his knives sharp it seemed, he felt the sting and burn of the blade cutting into his hand. He didn't let on that it hurt like hell.

" That's no way to treat a lady, Charles. " Remy said cooly to the large and sweaty man.

Charles blanched when he saw who was in front of him, " M-M-M-Mr. Macentire! Sir! "

" It would seem that I've been misled about how things are being run here. A shame really. I actually liked coming here. You can cancel my order, Charles. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. "

Remy turned around, tossing the bloodied knife to the sink, he looked down and saw Gauge looking up at him, she looked shaken from what happened,

" You're alright now Ms. " Remy offered her his uninjured hand, making sure to make himself not as intimidating with his height and voice.

Gauge nodded, taking his hand and letting him help her to stand. She thanked him quietly and spoke up a little more to Charles that she just needed to go get her things and change.

Charles nodded, seeing the look in Remy's eyes which were Amber and kept him frozen in place and also kept him in a more civil mood.

Once Gauge returned, now wearing blue jeans that was styled like a man's, a white baggy shirt that was designed to hang off her shoulders and show the strips of her sports bra. She had her black purse on one shoulder and now wore her black boots again.

She didn't say another word to Charles and thanked Remy again as she passed by him before going out the door.

Remy glared at Charles again before quickly making his way out, finding Gauge there, waiting on him, it seemed.

" T-Thank you again. " She said, still timid.

" You're welcome... " Remy paused, he had heard what Charles had called her, but he was letting her tell him herself, without the yelling.

" Oh! Sorry, I'm-I'm Gauge. Gauge Winchester. "

" Like the rifle? " He joked.

She smiled shyly, " Yes. But no relation. "

They were quiet for a moment more before Remy decided that he needed to go, but Gauge stopped him, though hesitant for a second, he waited,

" Uh, may I see your hand? "

She didn't need to worry herself over a tiny scratch, but he humored her, extending his hand out, he watched as she cleaned it with an alcohol pad, used a small aluminum pack of ointment to help with the healing, though it was in vain and a waste of medicine as the cut would be gone within the hour.

But she was taking care to tend to him. So, he let her do as she pleased.

" It's the least I can do to pay you back for helping me back there. " She said as she then wrapped his hand.

" You don't have to do this. Or even pay me back for standing in to stop an attack. " Remy said lowering his hand back down to his side.

" I know. But you got hurt while trying to help and I couldn't walk away from this knowing that you were. "

" You act like a nurse more than a waitress. "

" I'm not a waitress anymore Sir. Though you're not the first to say that. I used to take care of my grandmother when she'd get hurt in the kitchen. Her, my mother, aunt. I'm also pretty handy with animals that were mildly hurt or working on cars, minor stuff of course...Sorry. I'm rambling. I-I-I should go now. You look like you're a boss at a big company and I don't want to keep you...Thank you again for what you did back there. Hope the hand heals good...bye. " Gauge quickly stopped her talking with him and left him there starring after her, he smirked a bit when he heard her muttering to herself about what an idiot, she was for saying those things to him like that.

But he just as quickly frowned when she put herself down about him thinking her odd for liking to work on cars. And rambling like a fool.

" Why would she think that? " He thought as he watched her leave, heading towards the bus stop that he knew was just down the block.
