It was in the middle of the 90s and business was booming. I was the DJ at the most popular club in all of Bookerville. lights flashing, people yelling for me wanting more of my magic. my partner in crime was on stage rocking it out with her royal blue base, yellow hair, and punk-ass attitude. after the show we go to our favorite dinner outside of town. "the show was great as always" Ace says taking a drink of her strawberry milkshake. "but I popped one of my strings at the very end..." she adds. "aw man! I'll fix it when we get home but I want the town to settle before heading home because I feel like we had a bigger crowd than normal" I say dipping one of my fries in ketchup. "Well no duh you were awesome making my guitar sound like a 20-man band!" Ace says almost like she is cheering me on from the booth at the dinner. "so I have an idea for next week." "And that is?" I ask. "I am doing vocals for our next show!" she tells me. "sister's love?" "yes," I clap excitedly finally able to hear my sister sing since she refuses to sing to me. the next week comes. I help Ace set up her amp and once we are done we calibrate the lights. I get on my stand and mess with the settings on my soundboard and play low music since it was before opening time which was 2100. it was 2025 and we normally try to make everything perfect since we want to put on the best show anyone has ever seen. 2100 gets here and I put on my headphones and turn up the volume to a normal club-level volume. ace tunes her guitar ready to play I pick up the mic and say my opening lines. "Welcome to 3 Drinks of Bookerville! I'm DJ Lot, I am your DJ for the night and I would like also to welcome my partner in crime, Ace!" Ace strums her guitar, and all I hear is the roar of the crowd ready to be consumed by Ace's talent. Then the show begins but this time Ace plays a new song no one has ever heard before and they go wild. so I turn her up and down everything else causing everything to vibrate. this song was also different from normal because it had vocals when she started singing. Do people start cheering, clapping, and throwing gifts? A teddy bear was thrown along with a bra. Ace starts jumping which causes the crowd to do the same wanting to mimic her movements; to be her in a way. my breath runs cold when the song is over the worst happens a light falls on Ace as she says her last words. "She Loved Me in The End."
no no no! I screwed everything as tight as possible and checked everything. nothing should not have fallen... I can't feel my feet but just watch from my little booth in the corner as the paramedics put my sister on the stretcher, and roll her out the door. By this time everyone had scattered outside or gone home, but now this little building that felt like an auditorium was empty with just me in despair. I shake my head finally able to get out of the Freeze in flight or fight. I get into my car and drive to Bookerville Medical. my heart was pounding so hard I could hardly breathe. I go in the front door straight to the front desk asking for my sister. she tells me she is in the ICU and needs to wait but she tells me where to go to wait. I go in the elevator to the 3rd floor and walk to the west wing. I talked to the next lady at the ICU desk and explained what the other lady said she nods then told me to sit down. a few minutes later I notice eyes peering at me but I look around and see no one just the occasional nurse trying to run from room to room. I nodded off I could feel a flash on my face but when I opened my eyes no one was there.
