Chapter 308: Just Haven’t Had Enough Fun

"As important as your parents?" William said happily. "My dear, it's truly an honor that I'm so important to you."

"Of course, you're my lover, so of course you're important," Ambrosio whispered softly in William's ear.

In truth, in her heart, William was more important than her parents. She had joined the modeling industry at 13, left Brazil at 15, and now at 19 and a half, she had spent over four years abroad. Except for the first two years when work wasn't too busy and she went back to Brazil for Christmas, she hadn't returned at all. Given that, it was normal that William held a higher place in her heart.

However, it was still relative. No matter what, they were her parents. So when William, feeling a bit apologetic, suggested they visit her parents in Brazil, Ambrosio's reaction was one of extreme happiness. She clung tightly to William, unable to believe it, and asked, "Really? Darling, you'll really go with me to Brazil to visit my parents?"

"Ha ha, why would I lie to you? Even if I don't plan on getting married, there's nothing wrong with visiting your parents since you're my girlfriend," William said with a restrained smile.

"You jerk," Ambrosio wanted to punch William in the face when she saw his grin. She had really thought he was considering something more serious. Otherwise, why meet her parents?

"Sorry, my dear, maybe after we've been together for ten or twenty years, when I feel like having kids, I might get married for their sake. But not now. Whenever I think of those couples who are madly in love only to divorce a few years after marriage, I lose faith in marriage. Besides, marrying into English nobility isn't such a great thing. When English nobles marry, the woman's property isn't hers; it belongs to the entire family. If the husband disagrees, the wife won't be able to take a penny if they divorce."

Ambrosio rolled her eyes at William. "You jerk, if you don't want to get married, just say so. Why come up with so many excuses? Don't think I don't know anything. Since meeting you, I've read a lot about nobility. You're not one of those nearly bankrupt nobles who need to marry a wealthy heiress to relieve financial pressure. You just haven't had enough fun and want to enjoy your youth for a few more years, right, darling?"

Damn, William was taken aback by Ambrosio seeing through his thoughts. He didn't know how to respond.

Weren't they supposed to have an understanding? Why was this girl saying things that should never be said out loud?

"Hmph, I knew you weren't being honest," Ambrosio said softly. "Don't worry, darling. I don't want our relationship to be full of lies, so I won't interfere with your affairs. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't. Just don't let me see your scandals in the newspapers."

She hung on William's neck, sweetly asking, "I've been so good and understanding. Now, am I officially your girlfriend? Don't brush me off, William. People might say I'm your girlfriend, but it only counts if you say so yourself."

"Of course you are. Why wouldn't you be?" William thought to himself how clever she was. "In a few days, I'll take you to Fifth Avenue or the Champs-Élysées for a shopping spree, and I guarantee the newspapers will be full of stories about us."

"Ugh, you just know how to throw money at me," Ambrosio rolled her eyes. "Can I attend your mother's birthday banquet?"

"Heh, you're just asking for trouble. I don't want to mess up Lena's birthday banquet. If she's not happy, I can guarantee you won't have a good time afterward. She might even ban me from coming to New York, and then you'd be the one crying."

"Ha, darling, are you such a good boy that if she forbids you to come, you really won't?"

Perhaps William's repeated refusals had annoyed Ambrosio, as she now looked at him with a mocking gaze.

"Are you crazy or drunk, daring to mock me?" William's expression darkened, and Ambrosio, who was initially upset, immediately softened.

"Who told you to keep throwing money at me as if I'm only with you for the cash?"

William lifted Ambrosio's chin. "Sweetheart, if I didn't have money, you wouldn't have paid attention to me in Nassau, let alone given yourself to me after knowing me for just two days. Be honest."

Ambrosio wasn't upset about being exposed because she knew that both she and William were aware of this truth. Their initial relationship was indeed motivated by material interests.

"Darling, that was when I first met you. Don't women judge men by their looks and wealth first? With your great qualifications, I'd be a fool not to hold on to you."

"You're smart and know what to say. I'll let you off this time because you're so honest. But if there's a next time, I'll make sure you pay."

"Get lost, you just bully me," Ambrosio laughed, playfully hitting William's arm. "It doesn't matter, I'm yours entirely now. If you hurt me, it'll be you who regrets it."

"Ugh," William inhaled sharply, suppressing his anger as a wave of sensation washed over him. He didn't want to embarrass himself in front of others.

"Mr. Devonshire," just as William was about to lecture Ambrosio, Hunter approached with William's phone. "Sorry to keep you waiting. I've discussed the initial preparations with Anthony. Tomorrow, my assistant will fly directly to London to inspect the venue at Devonshire Castle in Oxford. You'll need to notify Mrs. Devonshire."

"Okay, I'll call my mom first thing in the morning," William nodded. He had initially wanted to surprise Lena, but then he realized that if he kept it a secret until the birthday, Lena might worry that he had forgotten her birthday as the date approached. A brief surprise wasn't worth the ten days of anxiety. There were other ways to create a surprise; there was no need to let his mother worry for ten or fifteen days.

With the main business settled, Ambrosio, worried about her own party, quickly tugged on William's arm. Even though his girlfriend wasn't as important as his mom, William wasn't going to be insensitive. He patted her hand, giving her a reassuring look. "Hunter, Ambrosio's party won't be affected, right?"

"Of course not. Although the birthday banquet is on a tight schedule, the main challenge lies in selecting ingredients and tableware. Other aspects aren't as difficult. Setting aside a day or two to prepare Miss Ambrosio's dinner won't be a problem."

"That's good. Otherwise, I'd be sleeping on the couch tonight," William joked.

"That's not true," Ambrosio protested, slightly annoyed.

Everyone understood it was a joke and were a bit surprised and impressed that such a young billionaire like William could be so approachable.

However, those who knew him well could tell that William's behavior likely had ulterior motives. He was never an easy person to approach.

William was determined to stay on his yacht until the Polar Bear gang incident was resolved. By not imposing a media blackout, he intended for rumors about his rendezvous with his girlfriend on the yacht to spread. As long as the matter wasn't directly related to him, those with ulterior motives would have no leverage against him.

As for the fashion show, William figured that he could simply spend a few million to reserve the diamond-encrusted outfit. He was confident that Victoria's Secret wouldn't drop Ambrosio. The money was a small price to pay for the potential gains.

But he didn't yet know that the outfit he wanted to buy would cost not a few million but $15 million. How would he react when he found out?

After discussing some details, the yacht returned to the New York marina. With business concluded, Hunter, who had good timing, immediately bid farewell to William.

Once the people from Eleven Madison Park had left, William waved over the sales representative from the Riva shipyard, who had been waiting nearby.
