Chapter 50

 THE FOLLOWING DAY

The following day, Romeo and his family woke up early, still feeling the effects of the previous day's disappointment. They went to have their breakfast, trying to shake off the gloom that had settled over them.

Annabel, their young daughter, looked up at Romeo with big, curious eyes. "Daddy, when do we get to go to our new home?" she asked, her voice full of hope.

Romeo smiled, trying to reassure her. "Today, love," he said. "Mummy and I are going to sort it out. We'll go see Mr. Smith and get everything straightened out."

Annabel's face lit up with excitement. "Yay!" she exclaimed. "I want to see our new home!"

Marie, who was sitting across from them, smiled weakly. She was still feeling the effects of yesterday's disappointment.

"Let's finish breakfast first, okay?" she said. "Then we'll go see Mr. Smith and get everything sorted out."
