A car pulled into the parking lot of the city mall. After a thorough inspection, they were allowed inside.
Aiden got out of the car and walked to the other side. His secretary watched him intently but said nothing as Aiden opened the door for Mia.
Mia stepped out of the car, beaming as she adjusted her school bag, which she had dropped while in the vehicle.
"Thank you," she said softly, barely audible, but Aiden heard her.
Aiden recalled the time Mia had confessed her feelings, only for him to gently reject her, explaining that he only saw her as a friend. Since then, she had been tagging along with him.
'Does she still think she has a chance?' he wondered, observing her smile.
They left the city mall, which wasn't even part of their destination. The mall stood tall and vibrant, seemingly unaffected by recent events. However, the changes in the city since the end of the month were apparent.
