The morning sun filtered in, arousing Aiden from his blissful sleep. He awoke feeling sore and drained, both mentally and physically. The previous day's confrontation, coupled with the relentless worry about the looming test, weighed heavily on his mind.
After the conversation he had with his father, who claimed to have a way to make him a healer which was obviously bullshit, Aiden was left alone with his thoughts.
He pondered his predicament, discussing with his system how he might bypass the testing artifacts. He discovered that he would be scanned with an artifact akin to his Penetrating Gaze, a realization that filled him with dread.
If his demonic nature were uncovered, he would be exiled to the other side of the world—a fate equivalent to death. No one, not even his influential father, could rescue him then, especially if his father was among those who would judge him.
