Solaine's POV
With lightning speed, Axel extended his hand and hoisted me to my feet. My chest heaved, each breath coming in ragged gasps. I can't summon the courage to meet his gaze. I'm desperately gasping for air, my lungs burning as he continues to pat my back.
I stand here, my presence is undeniable as if rooted to the ground, a silent witness to the world around me. "I am here..." His voice was a soft murmur, tickling my ear. I struggled to release a breath, but it felt as if the air was caught in my lungs, refusing to escape.
"Take a deep breath," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "You can feel the cool rush of air filling your lungs, right?" he added.
