  Xander's POV

  "I know," I interjected, cutting her off. "And I can feel the sharp sting of her words piercing your heart, the weight of her disrespect pressing down on you, even in those moments when I'm not there to witness it," I added, not even knowing what I was talking about. I hate to say it, but I feel satisfied when Selene shows me her beautiful smile after I say those words.

  "Okay," she stated, her voice dripping with icy indifference.

  "You probably feel disappointed that Thanksgiving was ruined and... Maybe I should give you some space? I will make things up," she mumbled. I quickly shook my head in disagreement.

  "No! Absolutely not." I vehemently disagreed, my voice rising in protest as I passionately expressed my opposing viewpoint.

  "We will carry on with the Thanksgiving festivities. It had nothing to do with you that it's been destroyed." I inched forward, my steps deliberate and measured, drawing myself closer to her.
