Chapter 35 You're Free, Alfie

  Lottie's POV

As soon as Nell finished speaking, the traffic light turned green and Alfie's car zoomed away. Nell sighed helplessly.

"The only thing that hasn't changed in all these years is probably Keith's dislike for me."

She turned around and saw me crouching in the passenger seat. She looked at me in surprise, "What's wrong with you?"

I don't know why my first reaction was to hide. Maybe at that moment, I didn't want Alfie to see me in Nell's car, or maybe I didn't want him to know that I was going to find him.

I squeezed out a forced smile at her, "I just had a leg cramp."

I immediately sat down and fastened my seatbelt.

"Sorry, Nell. I'm not feeling well and want to go home to rest. Can you pull over for me up ahead?"

"You do look really unwell now. Should I take you to the hospital first?" She looked at me with a face full of concern.

I shook my head, "No need to trouble you. I often get like this. I'll just go home and rest."
