CHAPTER 44 We Have No Connection

  Alfie's POV

After Keith escorted Lottie away, the house fell silent once again. I stared at the tea she had made, lost in thought.

"Have you made up your mind? Whether to follow your heart or give up on Lottie."

"Liam, making a choice is not as simple as that."

  "I think you're overthinking it."

Our conversation was interrupted by the doorbell. I opened the door, and Keith walked in looking annoyed, then slumped onto the couch.

"Why are you back again? Didn't I tell you to go straight home after dropping off Lottie?"

"I promised Lottie that I would take care of you tonight. I don't want her to accuse me of breaking that promise."

"What promise?" I looked at him, confused.

"Never mind, it's just that until you're fully recovered, you'll have to stay with me at night. Since the pack situation stabilized six years ago, you haven't been injured. Those who still hold grudges might try to 'invite' Lottie to their packs."
