ANNA'S POV
"My parents left it just the way I left it before moving to the city to handle the company."
"It's a little piece of home," I said, understanding what he meant. "Sometimes it's nice to have a place that feels familiar when you're far from home."
"Exactly," David said. "And even though I love my apartment in the city, it's never felt quite as much like home as this room does."
"It's a special place," I said, and for a moment we both sat in silence, taking in the atmosphere of the room. I could feel the history in the walls, the memories that had been made in this space.
"Do you ever wish you could go back to the way things were before?" I asked, breaking the silence. "When you were a kid and life was simpler?"
