Wren's POV
I turned around and walked downstairs.
I could hear Ralph's footsteps closely behind me; he had actually followed me.
"Wren, wait, please. I know you can't trust me right now, but can you at least give me some more time?" he pleaded. "I will find proof that I am telling the truth."
I didn't say anything. I didn't want to acknowledge him. I didn't want to hear anymore of his lies.
I couldn't understand why, at this point, he was still trying to explain and beg me to trust him. Would giving him more time change what happened? What was he thinking?
I quickened my pace down the stairs and soon arrived back in front of my room.
"Wren!"
The hand that was about to open the door stopped because I sensed the pleading in his voice.
During this time, I seemed to always see a side of Ralph that I had never seen before; although they were not good sides, this time this side of him made me pause.
