CHAPTER 41 Guarantee

  Wren's POV

I stiffened and quickly got up, rushing to tidy my clothes.

Instinctively, I looked around my room for a place to hide Ralph.

Before I could find a spot, there was a knock on the door.

  "Wren?"

I nervously silenced myself and turned to look at Ralph sitting on my bed. His calm blue eyes helped ease my panic.

"Wren?" My father knocked on the door again, sounding puzzled. "Are you there? Valeria said you would be back home by now."

I ran to the door, feeling uneasy, and opened it slightly. "I'm here, Dad."

My father's eye twitched as he looked at the room behind me, where the curtains were drawn. He raised an eyebrow at me. "Are you sleeping? You never rested at this time before," he said, but then his expression changed suddenly, and he asked, "Are you feeling unwell? Or is it because of Ralph again?"

"No! No, Dad, it's not because of Ralph. I just felt a little tired, so I rested for a bit."
