CHAPTER 9

  "How could you?" I roared, and the stormy winds brushed through my black, wavy hair as I stared at the two people who I loved most in the world stab me in the worst way possible. They stood there, their faces filled with guilt and regret, unable to meet my piercing gaze. The betrayal cut deep, leaving me feeling wounded and vulnerable amidst the raging tempest.

   

  The weight of their actions pressed heavily on my heart, shattering the trust that once bound us together.

   

  With my weak and shaky knees, I took a step forward under the moonlight, ignoring the painful burns and stings coming from the open wounds on my body that are yet to heal.

   

  "Nalani, please," She begged.

   

  "I trusted you; how could you have ever thought of doing this to me?" This time, my voice didn’t only come out as a roar; there was something else to it. There was something strange happening to me, something that I had never witnessed.
