CHAPTER 34 Reconciliation

  Olivia's POV

I made my way to the study and stepped through the door carefully, not expecting much from the coming interaction at all. "Father."

"Hmm," he grunted as he looked at the book in his hand and gestured to the chair next to him. "Sit."

I sat down next to him and fell silent once again.

Since the celebration ten days ago, I hadn't spoken to my father. It wasn't that I had deliberately avoided communicating with him, but he had most definitely been avoiding me. I didn't know if it was my imagination, but he seemed unsure how to face me.

My father still had the book in his hand, and there was no sound in the room except for the rustling of pages.

"Olivia, how have you been lately?"

My father's voice suddenly echoed in the room. I looked up at him, dragging my gaze from the bracelet on my wrist to stare at his face.

But my father continued to look at his book, and there was no follow-up question.
