CHAPTER 7 Gift and Curse

Eden's frown deepened as he stared at me, confusion evident in his eyes. "What do you mean, Ellissa? It's me, Eden. Your gamma."

I shook my head, feeling a sense of unease. "No, I mean, how did you do that? How did you use magic?"

Eden tensed up, his lips pressing into a thin line. "It's nothing, just a basic spell I learned," he muttered, trying to brush off the question. But I could see that it was bothering him and that he didn't want to tell me the truth.

I stepped forward, my eyes narrowing. "Don't lie to me, Eden. I deserve to know the truth. How could you use magic? Are you some sort of sorcerer?"

Eden's jaw clenched, and his expression darkened. For a moment, I thought he was going to refuse to answer my question, but then he sighed heavily.

"I am a warlock, Ellissa," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "I can use magic—to harness the elements and bend them to my will. It's a gift, but also a curse."
