CHAPTER 12

  Stefan

"Nena? What's wrong?" I asked, worried.

Kara kept her eyes closed, lost in a forced sleep. I felt sorry for her and knew I couldn't just stand by. Kara needed to see a doctor soon. Something was not right with her. My children were living inside her, and it was my responsibility to take care of my family.

  I called my best friend.

"Are you with Kara, Stefan? Have you been kicked out of her house yet?" he joked, but I ignored it.

"Shut up and listen, Scott. Something has happened. It's about Kara. I need to take her to the doctor. Tell me you've already got the car I rented for our stay here," I pleaded.

"I'm in the car right now, buddy."

"Come to Kara's place right away. She's passed out. We need to get her to the hospital," I repeated.

"Alright, Stefan. I'm on my way," he assured.
