CHAPTER 42

  Kara

  I got up and left.

  Stefan tried to stop me.

I sought peace in that place, and he appeared to destroy my peace. I don't know what destiny had in mind, but it seemed eager to bring us together.

"Kara, please," he stopped me and cornered me against a tree.

"If you don't let me go, I'll scream," I threatened.

"Scream. There's no one in the square."

Looking into his eyes reminded me of his marriage proposal. The plaque with our names. He did the same with Sara. He created a plaque.

"You love playing with people's feelings. I can't believe you proposed to her in the same place as me."

"She wanted to do it there."

"But you went along with it, Stefan. She's crazy! Don't you see? She wants to be like me."

"I can leave Sara if you dare to be with me. Let's take a risk. Maybe we'll win, Kara."

"With you? Why? You'll deceive me, and I'll end up alone on the streets."

"No, my love. I promise you won't."
