  Everyone applauded us again. People approached to hug us and congratulate us for the union of our love, but they had no idea. The marriage didn't make sense without love.

  I searched for Kara everywhere. I wanted to talk to her. I needed to. Something inside me demanded it. But I couldn't find her.

  What if they had left? Maybe they never arrived.

  I found my mother. She hugged me, but she didn't congratulate me. My mother ignored me and walked away.

  "Don't mind her, Stefan. Your father is happy about your marriage," my mother told me, but I didn't believe her.

  "I don't think so," I replied.

  "But you're not happy either, are you?"

  "Mom, I don't want to talk about it," I asked her.

  My mother knew the answer. She knew me perfectly and could see the unhappiness in my eyes.

  "I told you you were going to make a mistake, Stefan, but you didn't want to listen to me. What do you intend to do now?"

  "I have nothing to do, Mom," I clarified.
