CHAPTER 14 Growing Tension

Frank had bestowed upon me a lavish room probably out of sheer generosity, thrice the size of my previous one in our old house. The furniture, unmistakably chosen by Mom, blended sky-coloured curtains with the room's pristine white walls. While these luxuries adorned the space, I couldn't claim affection for them- the vanity, filled with items I'd never touch, a closet overflowing with more clothes than I'd ever owned, and shoes meticulously matching my sizes.

I'd said it once, and I'd repeat it- Frank had an excess of money to squander.

I wasn't going to use even a fraction of these items. I doubted if I would even touch them.

I didn't require this so-called luxury from my so-called new father. Despite the beauty and order in the room, it lacked the charm of my old space. In my previous room, there was a peculiar tranquillity I'd managed to gather in my life. Now, everything seemed chaotic, much like before.
