Mia POV
New York
Amidst chaos, distant voices called my name, trapped in half-consciousness. Panic welled up. Voices persisted, growing louder but muffled, separated by an insurmountable barrier.
A cold splash of water shocked me awake, the world swirling in a blurry haze. People stood around me, including Sebastian. "Mia, you're awake," he said with relief.
"What happened?" I asked, memory fragmented.
"Your father happened," Sebastian replied.
I attempted to sit up but was forced to lie back. "Where is he?" I asked groggily.
"He's at the police station, getting locked up for public harassment," Sebastian explained. "You're safe now."
The café had fallen into eerie silence, patrons staring. I felt unease, wanting to leave. "Can we go?" I asked Sebastian. Without hesitation, he nodded. "Let's go." We left the café.
The car ride was mostly silent, lost in thoughts, reeling from the encounter. Sebastian broke the silence, his concern evident.
