In the ominous forest, one could see two descending figures. One older and wore glasses. He had a demeanor that commanded respect from everyone. Everything about him seemed eerie such that the ominous forest lost its ominousness in his presence.
He had his palm on a young boy's shoulder who was not more than sixteen years old. The boy had reddish black hair and one could not miss the haggard look on his face. It appeared that he was greaatly affected by the older man in some way.
The two slowly descended and as soon as they touched the ground came an explosion followed by a sudden quake of the earth. The older man rose and looking around, he saw a mountain shaking.
The two gave each other a knowing gaze as they all flew towards that direction. The two were obviously Rey and the headmaster who had just arrived in this region. Rey was on the verge of collapse after the hellish ride despite the cover from the headmaster.
He braced himself as they flew towards the mountain. On the way, the headmaster seemed to have frown lines on his face which indicated that the current situation was dire.
Rey who thought they had been moving at full speed was surprised when the headmaster increased his speed. From the look of things, it was obvious that the headmaster could go even faster.
It did not take long before they found an entrance into the mountain and landed next to it. They could have flown but the cave was too narrow to allow flight. Looking at it, it was obviously a newly made cave not more than two weeks old.
The headmaster left Rey and flashed towards the deeper parts of the cave. Rey could only smile wryly as he realized he was holding the headmaster back but he quickly got rid of the thought and started running in the direction the headmaster took.

Inside the central part of the cave, the two teenagers were at the end of their rope when the newcomer suddenly stopped and was suddenly engulfed in darkness. The two could only sigh as Alaric stood before her. If death was imminent, he was going to protect her till the end.
Aurora could not allow that and she too wanted to protect him. She had had enough of being protected by him where he kept having injuries and almost dying. She stood in front of him and spread her arms to protect him.
Her message clear; the robed man would only get to Alaric over her dead body. Their display was met by a soft chuckle. Unlike what they had expected; him to quickly finish them. He laughed...
"How touching," he said with a grin. "You kids should be glad I have to leave. But I will be sending my people after the two of you. It appears you two possess everything we need." The man continued in a low voice.
"What do you want from us? Who are you people?" Alaric could not help but ask.
The man stared at them and smiled. It was evident he was not going to tell them.
"Don't get too curious," the man said and disappeared with the darkness.
The two were shocked by the sudden turn of events. It was close to fantasy that they would survive. Their chances were absolutely zero! Yet, the enemy had left on his own volition. It was too good to believe that the enemy would just leave them unscathed.
Alalric stared at her small back and her wide open arms as she had prepared to shield him. Though her hair was a mess and the dress was just a makeshift which he had done after he untied her, it still could be said that Aurora was elegant. She still held the dignity of a royal.
Few breaths passed, each lost in tbeir own thoughts and after affirmation that all was fine, which apeared like a dream, she turned around and raised her head her eyes meeting his which were already staring at her.
Seeing his smiling face, she could not help but smile back but that was a painful smile. Only she knew how much the guy in front of her had suffered for her sake and how many times she thought he would die.
She recalled the moment she thought he was dead and how the moment she heard his voice later she thought she too had died and she had followed him where he was waiting for her. She recalled how his flesh was washed with lightning several times but he somehow managed to survive and get reborn stronger...
From his display of strength, it was going to take her a lot of time if she was planning on protecting him one day. All these factors only made her eyes shiny. She did not care as she jumped into him and wrapped her arms on his back. She leaned her head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat to make sure that all she had encountered was not a dream and it was true that they had survived and he was there.
His heartbeat was steady and calm but she could somehow feel its speed increase. She was still holding back her tears until she felt his arms on her back patting her and one below her waist pulling her closer. She could not help but have only one feeling as she sobbed in his embrace.
'It is safe.' She thought.
At the moment, she felt that that was the safest place she could ever be. She remained in that position for a while and her sobs were replaced by a smile that lingered. His one hand still patting her back.
Alaric let her go and his hands reached for her face and cupped her cheeks and made her look up at him. The smile on their lips had hints of tiredness but their eyes showed comfort in each other's presence. Alaric used his fingers to wipe the residue tears and it was just in time when he felt the air in the cave turn chilly and it was somehow overly quiet.
He looked atound and what he saw next made him stumble backwards. It was the pair of eyes that had locked onto him that caused him to feel a chill. Without the system, he could not protect himself from the intimidating gaze much. Still, he was the Immortal King and he could not be shaken by the aura easily.
Still he was shocked the headmaster appeared. Aurora was shocked when he walked backwards and got free from her embrace but as she followed his gaze, she saw the headmaster and her reaction was the same as a blush appeared on her cheeks.
They had been caught red handed. One could have thought that they were hiding or in running but looking from the state of the cave, it was certain that a big fight had taken place here. The craters were enough evidence together with the rumbles on the ground.
The two dead bodies on the ground showed just how dire the situation was to result to deaths. The headmaster was the one who was taking in these details and he had alreasdy sent a message to General Morris who would be arriving soon.
The tense atmosphere waw broken by the heavy footsteps that were fast and steady as though someone was running towards their direction. They could not help but all feel irritated. Was the incoming person really that in need of attention that he could not run with quiet footsteps?
The wait was uncomfortable even their legs felt the wait was killing them. Just how far was the incoming person such that the footsteps which were loud were only becoming louder, proof that he was getting close.
They waited impatiently and the footsteps were now closer and the incoming person would be arriving soon. They all stared in one direction as they saw a figure appear in the cave with reddish black hair.
Alaric took in calming breaths for if he got the chance, he was not going to let Rey go. Even Aurora was somehow irritated. The headmaster was expressionless but his eyes were fixed on Alaric and Aurora.
Rey finally arrived panting and he bent, his hands on his knees as he panted with his tongue out. He was taking in deep and loud breaths and sweat trickled from his forehead. He was yet to look up and see the three who were now all staring at him.
Rey finally caught his breath and stood up. Running really was tiring especially in caves. The many turns and the insufficient air made it hard for anyone to keep their breath when running. He could recall how he had lost his way several times but he had finally found them.
He had a proud smile for his accomplishment and it suddenly dawned to him that the three were unusually quiet. Like were they not going to congratulate him for his arrival? He looked at them one by one and apart from the headmaster's expressionless gaze, the two other spoke volumes as if they were shouting at him.
The one from Alaric was especially horrifying.
'I will kill you!' The gaze said it all.
Rey took few steps back his hands raised in defence as he looked at the headmaster...
