At first the blackish marks were like when Kai didn't clean his fingertips properly when he cleaned the stove in the kitchen. However, this time the blackish marks had almost eaten a fingernail. He who usually did not wear gloves, now had to use gloves to hide the blackish marks that bothered him.
"Are you cold dear, Kai?" asked his brother Kairi when he woke up on the second morning after the blackish marks appeared on his fingers.
He smiled, double-checking that the gloves were on properly so that whatever happened wouldn't come off as a result of his negligence. Once convinced that there was nothing to worry about, Kai nodded, agreeing to what Kairi had asked him even though he did not feel that way.
"Is it really cold?" Kairi looked at her worriedly. Until Kai felt extremely guilty for lying. But, his younger brother would have been more worried if Kai had been told what happened to him was a symptom of the curse.
