Brian seemed to scoff in disbelief, "You won't?"
"Yeah, I can't and I won't," Avery repeated.
"Why?"
Avery blinked, her face contorting into a frown.
"Brian, you aren't seriously asking me that, are you?"
"I am," he replied impassively.
"That's... unbelievable. We are rivals, or at least, the companies we lead are rivals; doesn't matter if we're in a relationship or not. I lost the deal due to my own stupid mistake so I don't blame you for taking it on. But helping you with a problem you face while handling it? That's a no, no for me." To hide the displeasure in her voice, she rapped her knuckles against the steering wheel as she spoke.
She scoffed, "I mean, why should I?"
