CXXIX ||| Nasty Mother-in-Law

"Semantics. Cosmos is my dad, nonetheless."

Playing with her glass of blood, she pointed to the chair behind me, "Take a seat. I'm not going to harm you."

"Yet?" I grinned as I took a look at the chair before sitting down.

"Headmaster Mia isn't someone to be messed with."

So, father was right. "Well, then be careful. She's my godmother, I doubt she would take lightly if you tried anything," I smiled innocently, though kept my words killed with venom.

There was surprise in her eyes, but it vanish as quickly as it came. "Shay Miralanthor and Russell Bloom. Golden and black dragon. But you are a black winged-serpent. Quite the recessive gene, are you not, daughter-in-law?" She made her research.

Crossing my legs, I licked my lips amusedly, "So, I've heard."

"Meredith did that to you?" Violet pointed at my body.

"Oh? The scars? Well, she's good on the torture."

She blinked twice, taking in everything, "She killed your mother."

Uh, does she thinks I don't know that? "Indeed. In front of me when I was 7 years old, exactly two thousand and fifty years ago. Seems like you and her have something in common, uh? Killing loved ones in front of our eyes just to get us to fall in despair?" I said softly, holding all my fury inside me. "Why? You thought I didn't know? And it wasn't only Meredith, her dog, Philippa, also helped her killing my mom. After all, she had to make sure Russell's mate was off the picture."

That seemed to surprise her again, "They were mates."

"Yes, they were. But he abandoned my mom and she died. Isn't he an amazing father?" I mocked. "He doesn't even know about me, so, I don't think it matters. I also couldn't care less because I've never met him, and he's one of the reasons my mom died. You can't use him against me."

Again, Violet seemed amused by my words, "You hate her."

"Meredith? Of course. Should I be thankful that she murdered my mom in front of my eyes, locked me up, and tortured me for centuries? I don't think so. She thinks I'm in a leash, though," I played with my hair.

"Serpents cannot be tamed," she purred.

"No. We cannot. So, what do you want from me, Violet?"

"I wanted to meet the legendary winged-serpent everyone has been talking about, and I was surprised when I learned that you and my son were dating, even though you are enemies in the Academy. Very amusing. To think Meredith's secret weapon would end up in bed with my son."

Nasty bitch. "Well, what can I say? He's quite addicting." And my mate. There's no running from him.

"But you want his top 1," she stated matter-of-factly.

"Of course, I do."

"That's a problem," putting her glass of wine on the coffee table, she leaned back on the couch sensually.

"Why? Don't you trust Oliver's potential?" I put a crooked grin on.

"You have time magic," and?

"He has disintegration," I countered.

She grinned as if proud of her work on him, "He does, indeed. I only care about power, Wilhelmina Miralanthor. And that the power does not stay in Meredith's hands or any dragon's. You're not a dragon, but we don't know what you are necessarily or what you can do."

Thank goodness she doesn't. "I am still learning myself. After all, there's no one to teach me about being a winged-serpent, given how your ancestors murdered all of mine."

"You are an incognita and we cannot trust you."

I frowned, "And you shouldn't. You and Darius are my enemies as much as Meredith is, Violet. She's just my priority. You are as much of a monster as she is, and you need to pay the price just like she does. However, my problem with her goes deeper as you already know."

Playing with the blood snake, she kept the smug on, "We are not scared of you, Wilhelmina. We can simply use our dear son again. You know, he's killed all of his older siblings and best friends before, with a word of my husband, you think he wouldn't kill you too?"

A dreadful shiver ran down my spine again, and I felt nauseous with the idea of her using me against Oliver. It would break him, and I know she has the guts to do it. "Oh, yeah? Shall we deal with this before I kill the Dragon Queen? Because you can't kill her without me."

Her eyes shone with interest, "I know. My sister has foresight and she saw that the winged-serpent would be the key to killing Meredith. As well as she saw that you would be mated to my son," I felt sicker.

"Is that so? Interesting," I kept a blank face.

"How strong would he get if he despaired after murdering his own mate?" She purred amusedly. "Ah, I can't even phantom. He would be the strongest. I bet that would be enough for him to let go of his stupid ideas of fighting us. He would be too far gone for that."

This bitch is insane. Fucking insane. "You underestimate me and my power, lavender," she scowled and flashed her fangs at the nickname. "Don't make me change opinions and murder you and Darius before I do what I need to do to Meredith."

"You are not strong enough to harm me, Wilhelmina Miralanthor. Or my husband. Montgomery isn't strong enough to fight back my mate's powers either, thus, he won't be able to do anything but murder you if we tell him too. How unfortunate, for you to be mated to him. He will literally be the death of you," her eerily grin widened in a horrifying way.

Fuck. I need to break this. I can't let her destroy Oliver's by making him do this. Making him kill me would break him beyond recovery. I can't let that happen. I can't avoid this anymore, I need to speak with Mia.

"You can try, but I won't let that happen," I feigned arrogance. "I know you cannot do anything against me. Because Oliver may not be able to harm you, but what if I channel his magic and use it on you?" I leaned closer and for a second, she wavered. "Can you guarantee you will still be immune to it? You don't have an amulet to protect you from it, as Meredith does."

She frowned, "An amulet? It's an amulet?"

"I see that you don't know much, lavender. Even less about my kind and even then, you still threaten to kill me using Oliver," I scoffed.

"You are not the only one I can use, Wilhelmina Miralanthor. You do know that, right? Elliot-River, Eleutherios, Irene, Nevena, Dimitry, Igor. He's stupid to still give us munition. And now we have his mate," she grinned widely. "If you can't be tamed and controlled, if torture isn't what you need to be broken, then making him kill you will do the deed, won't it?" Fucking monster. "You are stuck with him."

I don't know about that. I won't let her do this to him. I won't.

"Even if you are Mia-Alexandria Hallow's goddaughter. What can she do if her pupil kills her goddaughter? It won't be us. No one will be able to blame her. The blood will be on his hands and fangs, not on ours. He's the only one who can drain you up, isn't that ironic?" She took her glass from her coffee table and took an elegant sip. "Sounds poetic. Her mate kills her and puts her race into extinction once and for all. Melodic."

I think I'm going to vomit. "You are giving me great ideas of how to kill you and your husband, Violet. And don't fool yourself, you may have manipulated Oliver for him to murder all those kids, but no one manipulated me to kill the ones I did. He was an accidental murdered, but I am a trained assassin," I'm exaggerating a bit, but who cares? "I will not blink before murdering you in the worse way possible. You may not know, but my kind is and will always be stronger than yours."

I need to break the bond and get the fucking crown. But this can't go on. I can't let this happen. I love Oliver too much, I can't let him go through this shit again. I do not want to be another line on his biceps.

"Think twice before messing with the Circle kids and anyone of my friends, Violet. I am a vengeful bitch, and you will learn that pretty quickly if you have the guts to do anything against them!" I may not say this to any of them, but I'm not letting any of them getting hurt by this bitch, or by Meredith. I can't. But Oliver's my priority.

"I'm not scared of you. I am a Queen and I do whatever I want!"

"Not in my Academy!" Mia yelled, bursting the door open.
