The Vampire Lord's eyes seemed to bore into Queen Sabrina's soul, as if he was trying to read her thoughts. But she remained impassive, her expression a mask of indifference.
"I think I'll take Lady Natalia under my wing, personally," the Vampire Lord said, his voice dripping with condescension. "I'm sure she'll prove to be a valuable addition to our kingdom."
Queen Sabrina's eyes narrowed slightly, but she said nothing. She had no idea what the Vampire Lord's plans were, but she knew that she had to be careful. She couldn't let him suspect that she was curious about Lady Natalia, or that she was concerned about the Vampire Lord's intentions.
The Vampire Lord seemed to take her silence as a sign of acceptance, and he nodded to one of his guards. "Bring Lady Natalia to me," he said. "I want to speak with her further."
