As they walked back to their quarters, Ariana couldn't help but notice the look of distraction on Tahira's face. "Tahira, what's going on?" she asked, her voice low. "You seem... different. Ever since you danced with the Vampire Lord, you've been acting strange."
Tahira sighed, trying to shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in her stomach. "I don't know, Ariana," she said. "I just feel... guilty, I guess. I'm supposed to be focused on our mission, not getting caught up in the charms of the enemy."
Ariana raised an eyebrow. "The Vampire Lord is charming, I'll give him that," she said. "But you're not supposed to fall for him, Tahira. You're mated to Khan, remember?"
Tahira nodded, feeling a pang of guilt. She had fake-wedded Khan to secure the throne, but she had never expected to feel this way about the Vampire Lord. She pushed the feeling aside, trying to focus on her mission.
