Lady Ophelia's eyes searched Vampire Lord Laurent's face, as if looking for any sign of deception. But all she saw was sincerity and longing.

"Why now?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Why are you willing to forgive me now, after everything I've done?"

Vampire Lord Laurent's eyes dropped, and he took a deep breath before answering. "Because, my dear, I realize now that I was just as guilty as you were. I was blinded by my own desires and ambitions, and I hurt you deeply. But I see now that I was wrong to do so, and I want to make it right."

Lady Ophelia's expression softened further, and she looked at Vampire Lord Laurent with a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could start anew, and rebuild what they had once had.

The room was silent for a moment, the only sound the quiet murmur of the guards and the nobles. Then, Vampire Lord Laurent spoke again.
