We Met-1

"You guys are still not finished?" Xavier asked casually.

Albie, on the other end, paused to calm himself, visibly annoyed. Scratching his brows, he retorted, "What do you think?"

Xavier couldn't help but chuckle, fully aware of his friend's frustration, yet his playful nature still urged him to tease further. Rolling his tongue slightly, Xavier groaned theatrically before deliberately continuing.

"Come on, guys, we could use some punctuality around here. Look at me—I made it back before the term even started."

"..." Albie's response from the other side was silence, a clear signal of his exasperation.

Enjoying Albie's irritation, Xavier pushed on. "You know what? We ought to establish some strict guidelines for our firm's growth. It's about instilling values."

Albie bit his lower lip to contain himself, his irritation simmering. "I'm ready to cut you off."

"What, the call?" Xavier quipped.

"No, your tongue," Albie shot back immediately.

"Would your heart agree with that?" Xavier taunted.

"Don't make me come over there and do it myself," Albie almost shouted.

"Alright, alright. I'll stop. But seriously, when will you be done?" Xavier pressed on.

"If it weren't for you handling this case, we'd have wrapped it up already," Mason, who had been listening in, interjected with his own frustration.

"It's not entirely my fault," Xavier defended.

"..."

Realizing his friends weren't buying it, Xavier's conscience prompted him to admit culpability. "Okay, twenty-five percent was my fault."

"..."

"Fine, fifty."

"..."

"Okay, but it can't be more than seventy-five," Xavier negotiated.

"Agreed," Mason replied vexedly. "More than three-fourths of this mess is on you. Are you planning to turn this into a theatrical production for the murderer?"

"You can't believe that I would have done nothing. That was my last case. I need to be a great showman." Xavier replied.

"Are you ready to silence him permanently or should I do it myself, Albie?" Mason turned to his friend.

"Will your wallet second that?" Xavier countered.

Growing increasingly irritated, Mason sighed. No matter how frustrating Xavier could be, they couldn't deny his skill and effectiveness. Their pockets are full because of him only. Rolling his eyes, Mason said, "...I'm hanging up. I can't listen to him anymore."

Albie nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I don't want to see his face for at least a month."

"Don't worry," Xavier laughed mischievously. To needle them further, he added, "The workload won't let you come here for a month either. And I'm not a fan of video calls."

"You—! Just go away," Mason said before abruptly ending the call.

Xavier cheekily smiled at his phone and then made his way into the university. Inquiring his way to the staff room, he retrieved the necessary documents for his friends' registrations for the college.

A month prior, Xavier's grandfather had fallen ill and insisted Xavier return home for good. However, having completed his first term abroad, an immediate return was challenging. Not minding Xavier's situation over there, his grandfather had demanded Xavier's transfer before the next term began, prompting Xavier's father to enforce the decision. Within a month, Xavier found himself back home.

Though Xavier didn't mind the idea of returning home, he wished his friends could join him as well. Fortunately, Albie and Mason shared his sentiments.

Upon his return, Xavier had taken charge of transferring his friends' documents as well with his application.

As he glanced around the staff room, he noted the bustling activity. Understandably, the administrative block was swamped with tasks before the term's commencement. Not wanting to add to their burden with his position, Xavier proceeded to the waiting area.

The waiting room was also occupied, and upon Xavier's entry, all eyes turned towards him. The breathtakingly handsome man took everyone's attention in one second. He looked elegant, genteel, and striking. Every girl in the room stood unconsciously after seeing his watery charming eyes. They all were hoping to sit next to him.

Xavier unhurriedly walked towards the couch and took his seat. However before anyone could take their seat beside him, Xavier placed his document file on the couch beside him, signaling that he preferred to be alone. Disappointed, they all returned to their seats.

Everyone's gaze was fixated on him. His every movement was being noted. His angelic looks couldn't let anyone think anything otherwise. While Xavier was engrossed in his phone, a polite voice interrupted his focus.

"Excuse me, could you please move your file? I need a seat here," Emma asked politely.
