The words were out of my mouth before I could think. I couldn't decipher the elites obsession with balls and gatherings. I could understand the reason for the first annual ball. It was to celebrate the growth of the realm, but the second seemed unnecessary. And now, a third? The thought of enduring another night of fake smiles and meaningless small talks was unbearable.
"You don't fancy the celebratory gatherings?" He asked. He looked almost intrigued by my little outburst, as if seeing a side of me he hadn't expected.
I wet my lower lips, suddenly aware of how boldly I had spoken. "Of course, I enjoy celebratory gatherings," I replied, tying to soften my earlier outburst. "But the unnecessary ones, not so much."
Alexander's brows furrowed as he studied me. "Unnecessary ones?" He asked, leaning into the table. From the look in his eyes, I could tell he had questions. "I'm curious as to what makes a gathering unnecessary in your eyes, Princess."
