Reap what you sow

Wu picked up Chang'an and said in embarrassment: "I don't know your mother's address, so I can't send a letter."

Changan wrinkled his nose and looked worried.

In fact, she had no impression of her mother at all. If others had not told her that her mother was working outside, she would have thought that her aunt was her biological mother and her uncle was her biological father.

So when she heard that her younger cousin wanted to pretend to be her mother's daughter, she didn't feel anything special, she just thought she was delusional.

But now the little cousin really pretended to be herself and left, Chang'an was a little panicked, worried that she would hurt A Niang.

"Aunt, let me tell you something." Chang'an whispered, "My little cousin must have gone to the capital to find my mother. She said she wanted to take my place as my parents' daughter."

Wu was shocked: "Did she really say that?"

"Yes!" Changan nodded: "So I will send a letter to my mother, telling her not to be fooled."

Wu said solemnly, "Aunt knows. I'll tell your uncle when he comes back."

A few days later, Song Sanshun and the villagers who were doing labor finally returned.

It was almost October at this time, and the temperature dropped sharply. Frost fell in the mornings and evenings, and many villagers fell ill due to the cold.

Wu quickly boiled water for her husband to wash his hair and take a bath, and then told him what Chang'an had said.

Song Sanshun frowned, holding the hot porridge and thinking for a moment, and said: "I'll go over there and ask them later, what do they mean?"

"We should go and ask. I heard that your father is crying all day at home, and Zhao doesn't care much about him. It seems that even his medicine has been cut off." Wu added some firewood to the stove and got up to prepare a wooden tub for bathing.

Song Sanshun frowned even more tightly when he heard this.

Although he has severed his relationship with his biological father, he is still his blood and flesh, and this cannot be erased. Knowing that his biological father might have been abused by that family, Song Sanshun still feels a little worried.

After dinner, Song Sanshun washed his hair and took a bath, then changed into clean clothes and went out.

Changan wanted to go with him, but he wouldn't let him, so in the end it was Wu who went to the new house with him.

It happened that the Song family's door was not closed, so Song Sanshun and his wife walked straight in.

From the side room came the wails of his biological father Song Baqi, as well as Song Jizu's insults: "Why don't you just die, old man? You lie in bed all day asking for food and drink, how dare you?"

Then there was the crackling sound of slapping flesh, accompanied by Song Baqi's vague plea for mercy: "It hurts, don't hit me, don't hit me, ouch."

Song Sanshun rushed into the side room and saw Old Zhao and Song Baqi in the room. His biological father had been dragged to the ground by them and was wailing weakly.

Song Jizu was slapping Song Baqi on the face again and again, and still not satisfied, he kicked him twice.

"What are you doing?" Song Sanshun was furious. He rushed forward and pushed Song Jizu away. "You are abusing him. Are you still human?"

When Mrs. Zhao saw Song Sanshun suddenly rush in, she was startled and didn't care about protecting her son. She hurriedly explained: "When did we abuse him?"

Song Sanshun was shaking with anger, and pointed at Song Baqi lying on the ground: "You said there was no abuse, but who hit him just now?"

Old Zhao's eyes flashed with panic as she defended herself, "He wet the kang. We were just about to change his mattress, but he refused to change it. He struggled and fell off the kang."

Song Jizu also reacted and yelled at Song Sanshun: "Why do you care about my family's affairs? Get out of here! You have nothing to do with this old guy! Why are you pretending to be kind now? If you have the ability, take him back and raise him!"

Song Sanshun glanced at the thin old man lying on the ground and sneered, "Your family's affairs really have nothing to do with me, but you using Song Xiyue to impersonate Chang'an is my business!"

Old Zhao was startled. She turned her head to look outside the house. Seeing that only Wu was standing at the door, she felt relieved. "What nonsense are you talking about? What about Xiyue pretending to be Changan? My Xiyue was taken to the county town by her aunt. What does she have to do with Changan?"

Song Sanshun ignored her and pulled back the wet, torn quilt on the kang. A foul odor hit him, and he couldn't help but cover his mouth and nose.

I saw a straw mat under the quilt, and on the mat was a torn mattress covered with dirt.

Looking at my biological father again, his skinny lower body was naked, and his upper body was only wearing a wrinkled and dirty robe. His whole body was covered with dirt, and his messy gray hair was half draped over his face. His cheeks were so thin that they were sunken. He was completely different from the strong man he was a month ago.

In particular, there were bruises on his face, arms, and legs of varying depths, which clearly showed that he was often beaten.

Song Sanshun couldn't tell how he felt when he saw him in such a state.

There is heartache, anger, and also anger at the lack of resistance.

Song Baqi was still conscious. He looked at his third son with tears in his eyes and mumbled, "Sanshun, Sanshun, Daddy is hungry."

Song Sanshun took a deep breath and asked in a low voice: "They don't give you food?"

Song Baqi shrank back, looked at Old Zhao and Song Jizu with fear, and did not answer, but only said vaguely: "Hungry, I am hungry, Sanshun"

Song Sanshun stepped forward, pulled off the dirty mattress on the kang, spread out the quilt, bent down and carried Song Baqi onto the kang.

Song Baqi's whole body was cold, and his legs were as thin as bamboo poles. After he got on the kang, he pulled the quilt to wrap himself, and his eyes were still looking at Song Sanshun, full of pleading.

Song Sanshun turned around and said to Old Zhao: "He is hungry."

"How can he be hungry? I just fed him. Don't believe his nonsense." Mrs. Zhao said lightly, "Samsoon, please go back if you are fine. It is illegal to trespass into a private house."

Song Sanshun sneered and turned to walk out: "Okay! I'll go to the Inspection Office right now. If they find out that your family abuses the elderly, is it also illegal?"

"Which eye of yours saw me abusing others?" Song Jizu's ruffian face was exposed. He pointed at Song Sanshun and said, "I provided him with food and drink, and even treated his illness. You, an outsider, did nothing, but you meddle in his business?"

Song Sanshun waved his hand to block his fingers and punched him directly.

He was so furious that he used great strength and knocked Song Jizu to the ground in one fell swoop.

Old Mrs. Zhao screamed in fright and hurried to help her son.

Song Jizu spat out two teeth and felt half of his cheek go numb.

"How dare you hit someone?" Xiao Zhao came running over when she heard the noise, but she didn't dare to fight with Song Sanshun. She just shouted angrily.

"I'm going to hit you ungrateful people!" Song Sanshun pointed at the Zhao family members with a fierce look in his eyes: "Listen to me! If anything happens to my father, I will bury your whole family with him!"

After saying that, he took his wife out of the Song family.

After stepping out of the door, Song Sanshun looked back at the wing room again, feeling mixed emotions.

My own father has reaped what he sowed. I wonder if he regrets what he did to his own children and grandchildren.

After returning home, Song Sanshun was depressed, and the miserable appearance of his father kept lingering in his mind.

Changan threw himself into his uncle's arms, hugged his neck and asked, "Uncle, what's wrong with you?"

Song Sanshun hugged his little niece and said softly, "It's nothing, I just feel a little uncomfortable."

"Feeling bad?" Chang'an suddenly became nervous, thinking that his uncle was sick, and hurriedly checked the beads he had given him.

Fortunately, the bead necklace was worn around Song Sanshun's neck, and the small beads inside were shining, and only a little bit of it was reduced.

Changan was relieved, patted his uncle's chest and said, "Uncle, don't worry, Xiao Zhuzhu will cure your illness."
