Close Quarter Conquest

Reed, now in the heat of battle, cornered by numerous slimes, their levels varying from 3 to 8, the options were clear. Either he goes on a spree and eliminates all his enemies or dies trying.

Either way, something needed to be done. "This will be fun," Reed muttered, pushing his feet with all his might. He immediately rushed towards the nearest slime.

He quickly thrust his dagger into the slime's core, shattering it. The slime immediately began to disintegrate.

Two other slimes ganged up on him, colored purple, symbolizing their toxic and poisonous nature.

Opening their mouths, they sprayed poison gas on Reed. He leaped backward, giving the monsters some distance. He immediately received the poisoned effect, and his HP began to drop rapidly.

"Ugh, I've been poisoned," he muttered. Reed then decided the only way to stay alive is to constantly kill the slimes, not leaving any moment of hesitation.

The more he killed, the more HP he'd gain, so basically, it was time to go on a killing spree. "Alright then, I guess there is no point in holding back," Reed rushed back into the battle.

The poison slimes tried to pounce on him, but he managed to spot them in time before they could worsen his condition. Twisting his hips, he rotated, performing a horizontal slash across both their cores.

They fell to the floor and began to disintegrate; his dagger seemed to have gotten even sharper. Reed continued cutting through their ranks, utilizing all methods of weapon swing he could think of: stabbing, slashing, and even thrusting.

The more he killed, the more they arrived, eventually surrounding him. Reed was finally backed into a corner after killing a dozen of them and was pounced on by several slimes.

Eventually, they buried him alive, each of their bodies weighing him down as they start to use their vicious salivary glands to slowly devour Reed's body.

Reed didn't have the strength to combat their vicious methods, and his HP slowly dwindled. It was only a matter of time before he died again for the second time, failing to get stronger.

"Crap, I didn't expect this to happen," he mused. At this point, all hope seemed lost, but as the saying goes, "True champions keep playing until they win."

Suddenly, an explosion occurred, blasting back all the slimes. Reed stood in their center, holding his dagger. He had planned to kill them all and wasn't going to settle for less.

But then something crazy happened to his dagger: its rusty steel frame had completely peeled off, revealing its true appearance. Its blade was red-hot, constantly burning, and its runes shined ever brightly.

Miasma kept spilling out of Reed's body, urging him to kill a slime as his HP kept dropping.

The battle had now truly begun, and the monsters were fully prepared. Three slimes jumped to attack Reed simultaneously. He waved his blade across all three of them.

Upon contact with their constantly cool liquid bodies, his blade immediately heated them to a degree their bodies couldn't withstand, causing them to explode.

Their monster cores fell to the ground completely intact since Reed didn't slice through them this time. It was clear that attacking in groups wasn't working, so they instinctively came all at once.

Reed swung his blade continuously, slime constantly popping all around him, resulting in the ground being littered with monster cores.

Eventually, all that remained was the field boss, Balance. Balance wasn't as fast as the other slimes but compensated with the strongest defense.

Field boss Balance activated its harden ability, and a layer of hardened slime covered its entire body, making it impervious to blunt attacks.

Reed rushed towards it, slashing at its body, but soon realized it wasn't working. At that moment, Balance counterattacked, pouncing on Reed and knocking him back.

Reed dragged his feet across the grass, slowing down his body. He surveyed the slime, looking for a gap in its armor. "That won't do; it doesn't seem like it has any weak spots," he thought.

A monster can't be completely unstoppable, or else there would be no point in fighting it. So why wasn't there much to read on the field boss during his research?

Reed was currently at level five, a minute before the poison wore off and had no armor whatsoever, and 'Grit,' his dagger, was already down to single digits of its durability stat.

Things were not looking very good for Reed, but surprisingly, he wore a confident smile on his face as if he had everything figured out.

Being bullied at a young age despite his superior genes compared to the rest of his classmates, Noah came up with a somewhat crazy claim, which forced him to brandish his own style of justice.

And at that moment, he said those very words: "No matter what happens, I always win," grinning as he sprinted towards the field boss.

As he ran, he checked the free stats he had gained from leveling up two times. He immediately allocated all of them to his strength stats. "If it doesn't have any weaknesses, then I'll just have to give it on myself," Reed muttered.

Jumping on top of the slime, he tried piercing the layer of hardened slime with his blade. The field boss began to shake its body, making it hard for Reed to place his dagger and increasing the risk of falling off.

Despite the shaking, Reed was stubborn, refusing to let go. He repeatedly stabbed a single spot, and slowly, his weapon's durability dropped, reducing by one every two seconds.

Reed gave it his all, and eventually, the slime's defense started to crack, eventually shattering and allowing him to come in contact with its actual body.

Reed thrust his blazing dagger into the exposed surface. The monster retaliated, but suddenly its body began to heat up and boil until it eventually exploded.

The explosion sent Reed soaring through the sky until he eventually landed on the ground, slime raining down on him, marking the monster's defeat.
