Not so kind receptionist

(Afternoon)

"Rift map, without you, I would be wasting my time asking directions." David was standing in front of an incredibly prestigious building, scaling in more than hundreds of floors.

Without further to do, he walks through the entrance door.

He saw a massive hallway, crystal clear walls, marble flooring, a massive desk situated in the middle operated by four individuals, multiple elevators parallel to each other from left to the right sides of the building. Finally, as he continues to move towards the desk. What greeted him last was a receptionist appearing quite amused, but had a quite unpleasant look on their face.

"How may I help you?" The receptionist spoke in a clear and concise tone.

Handing over the envelop of approval, David smiles, exuding an approachable charm.

"Chairman Von has provided me with a letter of recommendation to the Rift Academy."

As the receptionist verifies the letter of recommendation through a scanner, their not so professional facial expression changed abruptly to that of a kind and caring individual.

"Let me take you to the Core Scanner." Receptionist said frankly whilst handing back the envelop.

(Core Scanner Room)

"Looks pretty high tech, man, wished I had these tools and mechanism when building skyscrapers." David observes the unknown room with intrigue.

They walk towards a cube with neon blue outlines running along on all sides of it, hovering on the air quite majestically.

"Over here sir," as the receptionist inclines forward whilst pointing towards the floating cube with two hands.

"Placing one of your hands on top of the cube will light up and reveal the amount of mana you have."

Without further to do, David places his hand on the cube.

—-

"This unkempt man, let's see what Chairman sees in you." Looking attentively, lady receptionist watches the data scanning of the man pictured in front of an extremely wide computer screen.

[F-rank: 20 mana, 1 core]

[Power: Amplification]

"Ugh…" Lady receptionist couldn't help but feel disappointed and disgusted.

—-

"Looking at it again makes me feel nostalgic," David scratching his head as he reminisces the past.

When he was looking at lady receptionist's face, he hunched while stomaching his laugh.

"Man, looking at your face isn't even pissing me off anymore, it's cracking me up."

Lady receptionist couldn't say anything out of pocket due to her work ethic and standards. But, David was about to push her to breaking limits.

Calming her senses and composing herself as her original self, she continues to explain the procedures for admitting him to the academy.

(Stamina test)

David was jumping up and down doing stretches to warm up his stiff body.

"This test will display you a score between one to infinity. However, don't get on your high horses thinking you will hit infinity." Lady receptionist monotonously spoke.

"Your first test is stamina, the most important aspect of an individual."

She looks up at David to see if he was ready. Seeing his bright face replicating that of a target dummy, she had to restrain herself by looking down to explain further.

"Parkour with disappearing platforms, you will also be doing however many laps until you fall on the ground below."

"Also extra marks will be given when returning with the flags and placing them at the beginning."

As she finishes explaining his test. David positions himself in an extremely spacious glass chamber with many platforms with colour codes.

White indicates that it will be safe to stay on.

Red indicates that it will disappear soon.

"Begin."

—-

"Five minutes and twelve seconds." She looked at the tired man lyin on the ground as if he could sleep on the hard concrete beneath him at any given moment.

"Four points. This is the lowest score we ever had in Rift Academy's admission test."

As lady receptionist fixes her position of the glasses, she sat on a nearby chair awaiting for him to catch his breath.

David pants heavily, some louder than others, some more so in sync with his breathing patterns.

The other receptionist came over to ask for the results.

"As, these results remind me of my little brother's." With a kind voice, a receptionist openly remarked.

"Chairman brought someone random from the street to the Rift Academy." Bluntly said by a receptionist who continues to observe David for any hidden signs of talent.

"I wonder what Chairman was thinking?" Fourth receptionist pondered.

David pushes himself off the floor, standing up looking at lady receptionist for further instructions.

Lady receptionist sighs, "David, you will be admitted to the Rift Academy."

"Alright." David said with a trace of enthusiasm within his voice.

(Floor 187, Genius Dormitory)

"This will be where you will be staying until you graduate." The kind receptionist stops towards a door with a number 5.

"Thanks," David opens the door and waving goodbye to her.

As he closes the door, three sihulottes over shadowed him.

"Surprise!" With a sudden jump scare, David jumps into the air and falls flat on the ground.

"Haha, welcome newbie," a blonde spoke in a charismatic and confident tone.

He lifts him up off the ground and he started to introduce everybody including himself.

"My name is Roy, Roy Dinken," he smacks his puffed up chest with excitement.

After, crimson haired man looks at David in the eyes and proceeds to shake his hand, "My name is Noah, Noah Rose."

A white haired scrawny boy looks up at David whilst hiding behind Roy's back and said, "Hi."

Roy introduces Weux Toro to David and he silently nods.

"My name is David." And the three collectively greeted him with care.

(Half an hour later)

"So I'm just curious as to why you guys haven't asked for my rank yet?" David was curious during his seventh card game with his fellow roommates.

"Well there really isn't a need to pry anything at all." Roy said while focusing on the game.

David followed up with, "Is there a reason behind that?"

With a collective low groan from all three of his roommates, Noah quietly said to David, "Well the thing is, you being our roommate already gives us an indicator of your rank."

"There really isn't a need to attack or drag your morale down," Roy said with a sigh.

"I'm F-rank, with amplification powers," David muttered.

The three looked surprised but, they didn't seem to care much about it.

"I'm C-rank, I can manipulate electricity." Before Roy could say anything further, David remarks, "That is amazing!"

Roy lightly scratches his head in embarrassment, "I didn't expect to get complimented."

Noah then spoke about his rank, "I'm C-rank, I can clone myself two times and switch places with them."

"That sounds amazingly useful no matter the situation!" David affirming Noah's confidence in his ability.

Noah had a short moment of silence but had followed it up with a smile towards David, "thanks mate."

Weux was a little shy about his ability, so it wasn't revealed yet.
