Eight years ago, everything began with a single moment. I can barely recall it now. Back then, a kid named Ric pushed me away, saying, "Go away! I don't want you!" But I persisted, offering him a cake I had made, hoping to win his attention and maybe even his friendship. Unfortunately, Ric didn't even glance at me; he simply walked away.



However, another kid observed the entire scene. I can't remember his face or name, but I do recall the unique dimple in his smile. He praised my cake, which only intensified my frustration. "Why are you here?" I demanded. "I told you I don't want to play with you! I want to play with Ric! And you lied to me—you said he'd like it!"



The other kid remained unfazed, smirking as he pinched my cheeks. "Why don't you give it to me, Tasha? I'll eat it all if you want." His indifference hurt more than Ric's rejection.



Tears welled up in my eyes. He had deceived me. He claimed Ric liked cake, so I baked it, but why did Ric hate me so much?



And so, the memories of that bittersweet day lingered. Little did I know that this encounter would lead to unexpected twists and turns.
