Chen Guo was extremely pleased with himself.
After examining the remains of over nine hundred individuals, he amassed a wealth of attributes, talents, and skills.
This surge in capability boosted Chen Guo's combat strength by 40,000, now totaling an impressive 450,000!
He was a mere 50,000 points shy of the Demon Commander's strength.
Yet, Chen Guo was confident that his true combat strength exceeded 500,000. He was absolutely certain he could vanquish the Demon Commander and claim his head as a trophy!
"Our collective strength has seen a significant increase. We now possess the power needed to take down the Demon Commander and thwart the Evil Energy Army's schemes," Kelly declared. "It's time to make our move!"
"Let's get to it, then!" Yim Chixia proclaimed.
With that, Yim Chixia initiated the assault.
The other mentors joined in the attack.
Seeing the mentors in action, Chen Guo and the rest were not about to just stand by. They joined the fray, unleashing their newly acquired skills in a fierce onslaught against the Demon Commander.
"How dare you use your bizarre powers to bind me! Your petty tricks have only succeeded in enraging me. I will rip you to shreds, one by one. No one will prevent me from seizing the Elf Tear!" The Demon Commander roared in anger, his power erupting chaotically.
But the tide had turned.
Previously, even with the aid of the trial challengers, the ten mentors could only just maintain an advantage.
Now, with the trial challengers' strength universally enhanced, the collective might of over a hundred individuals was enough to decisively tip the scales.
The Demon Commander found himself utterly outmatched by these detestable humans.
Wounds even began to mar his form.
"Impossible, you cannot be my equals!" the Demon Commander raged. "Great Demon King, grant me your power!"
"You unworthy wretch, you do not deserve my power!" echoed a voice from the abyss.
It was the Demon King of the Evil Energy Army himself.
The Demon King was a being of cold, merciless nature. He monitored every member of his legion closely, yet he reserved his respect for the strong alone. Any demon that showed a hint of defeatism would be cast aside without a second thought.
In his eyes, only the strong deserved a place in his army.
The Demon King had grown to despise the Demon Commander Kidan for suffering a humiliating defeat at the hands of mere mortals.
Such a failure still yearning for the shelter of his power was nothing short of delusional - a toad lusting after swan meat.
"Your own Demon Master has forsaken you, and yet you cling to your scheme?" Yim Chixia, well-versed in battling the Evil Energy Army, recognized the Demon King's voice and his tendencies, seizing the moment to taunt him.
"I will prove my worth to the great Demon King and I will destroy you all!" The Demon Commander spat out defiantly.
In a frenzy, the Demon Commander unleashed his mightiest skill, teeth clenched, forgoing defense entirely in favor of relentless attack.
But bravery alone couldn't bridge the gap in power.
Amidst the group's onslaught, his reckless offense only led to grave injuries, and the chilling breath of death was closing in on him.
The Demon Commander realized that persisting in battle would only lead to his demise.
"I refuse to die in this accursed City of Pain. I will gather my strength and have my revenge!" he bellowed, stomping on the platform with such force that it shattered beneath him, leaving the mage tower teetering dangerously.
The impact, akin to a magnitude nine earthquake, caused many to lose their footing, and as the platform crumbled, people began to plummet.
The few trial challengers and mentors who could fly were the lucky ones; the rest had to quickly find a way to save themselves amidst the chaos of the fall.
In the ensuing pandemonium, the Demon Commander seized his chance to flee. Hovering in midair, he brandished his war halberd and conjured a dark-green portal.
"You may have defeated me, but you won't capture me or take my life! You mortals are far from capable of killing me!"
With lightning speed, half of the Demon Commander's body was already through the portal, clearly opting for a strategic retreat.
Yim Chixia, soaring after him on his sword, lamented the turn of events, "Who would have guessed he'd turn tail and run? I was just a step too late!"
"He can't escape!" Chen Guo's voice rang out, "His fate is sealed by my hand!"
With those words, Chen Guo activated the Flying Thunder God Art and in an instant, he was on the Demon Commander's back.
Singularity of the Sword!
Sword God!
Chen Guo unleashed two swift strikes with his Cosmos Sword, eliciting an earth-shattering scream from the Demon Commander.
"No, this can't be my destiny!" The Demon Commander cried out in utter despair, but it wasn't long before his soul was scattered to the winds.
Chen Guo had drawn upon his true power, executing the two most formidable techniques of the Mountain Shu Sword Arts, coupled with the Flying Thunder God Art to close in on the Demon Commander at lightning speed. He struck before he could even register his presence, a feat that could only be described as miraculous.
He collected the Soul Stone that the Demon Commander had become and proceeded to review his considerable loot.
"You have slain Demon Commander Kidan, earning 200,000 Slaughter Points!"
"You have advanced to level 24!"
"You have acquired the Cow Cloak!"
"Cow Cloak: Increases movement speed by 5%. When used, grants the ability to burrow underground!"
"You have gained Divinity!"
"Divinity: Upon use, all attributes are boosted by 5000 points!"
"You have obtained a Purple Crystal!"
"Purple Crystal: An artifact from the Demon World. Upon opening, it grants a random magical item from the Demon World!"
Chen Guo's haul was as bountiful as he had anticipated, filling him with immense delight.
Meanwhile, outside, the plummeting onlookers received a different message:
"Heavenly Walker?? has slain Demon King Kidan, earning 200,000 Slaughter Points!"
Everyone knew that a name followed by question marks signified none other than Boss Guangcheng.
They had not witnessed Chen Guo's battle, as they were in freefall, with the collapsing structures of the Mage Tower obstructing their view.
The system alert was the only indication that the Demon Commander had fallen, and it was Boss Guangcheng who had vanquished him.
"What's happening? How did Boss Guangcheng kill the Demon Commander?"
"Has Boss Guangcheng only just arrived?"
"It's too much of a coincidence. Boss Guangcheng must have been incognito among us!"
Amidst their own protective efforts, the crowd buzzed with discussion and speculation.
Several trial challengers, having mastered the art of flight, attempted to soar above the chaos to gain a clearer understanding of the situation.
