Wherever Chen Guo went, his sword qi cut through the air, leaving a swath of monster corpses in his wake. The devastation was immense.
It was like watching a max-level character decimate the Beginner Village.
A million in combat strength, the strongest war god—his reputation was no exaggeration!
Zhou Tao and the rest quickly realized they were superfluous; the monsters perished too swiftly for them to even lift a finger.
Yet, they weren't overly astonished. After all, they had witnessed Chen Guo's staggering kill count during the previous monster siege.
This was merely a minor display of his abilities.
But Chu Xiaohong was agape.
She had never encountered such overwhelming power.
Not even in the Dusk Forest, and certainly not the likes of the legendary Lin Suzhen, could anyone match this might.
Even the most formidable human warriors at the stronghold, who could take on ten monsters at once, couldn't achieve such a sweeping victory.
"Is he... really human? Can a human even do this?" Chu Xiaohong blinked in disbelief.
The once formidable monsters crumbled like paper before this stranger, whose swordplay dazzled with beauty and ferocity.
With mere flicks of his wrist, he dispatched the monsters as effortlessly as autumn winds scattering fallen leaves.
A deity in human form!
Chu Xiaohong was nearly brought to her knees.
"Of course, Boss Guangcheng is human, but to us, he might as well be a deity," Zhou Tao exclaimed with a sigh. "I used to be so confident, believing I stood above the rest. It wasn't until I met Boss Guangcheng that I understood the true meaning of unparalleled grace. If I am a cheetah on the ground, then Boss Guangcheng is the dragon soaring through the heavens."
Zhang Liting added, "I joined the Beginner Village of the Jade Void Temple because I was inspired by Boss Guangcheng's deeds. He won me over completely."
"Looking back, my choice was the epitome of wisdom. Boss Guangcheng is like a pillar of golden light. Even the slightest reflection from him brings boundless benefits."
"His talent and flair are unmatched in my experience. It's just a shame I know I'm not his equal, or else I would joyfully devote myself to him."
The two onlookers gazed at Chen Guo's retreating figure, which cut through the air with the grace of the wind, their eyes sparkling with admiration, as fervent as fans in the throes of celebrity worship.
"Could it be that among us humans there exists such a mighty figure? Is he called Guangcheng? Perhaps he's the one who can alter the dire destiny of our kind and rescue the world!" exclaimed Chu Xiaohong.
Initially, Chu Xiaohong harbored a trace of suspicion towards Chen Guo. These strangers may have come to her aid, yet their oddness made it hard to trust them implicitly. After all, one can never truly know what lies in another's heart. The survivors of Dusk Forest had learned not to stake their lives on the benevolence of others.
Despite Chen Guo offering her bananas—a taste of luxury she had never known—Chu Xiaohong's wariness lingered. But witnessing Chen Guo's indomitable valor, her doubts dissolved. She was now convinced that Chen Guo would never deceive them.
A man of his stature, capable of moving heaven and earth, would not stoop to deceit or treachery. Should he wish them harm, he would confront them openly, not lurk in the shadows. With his capabilities, their hideout would not remain concealed for long, no matter how well hidden.
"Run for your lives!"
"The intruder is a monster, wielding sorcery! Hurry, flee!"
"Return to our leader! We stand no chance against him!"
The intelligence of the local creatures, save for the dark humans, was limited, but the repeated slaughters had taught them the meaning of fear. They scattered in all directions, wailing and howling, the very picture of panic-stricken desperation.
"Who's this rat daring to wreak havoc on my turf?!" bellowed a voice, and a bizarre tableau unfolded before their eyes.
A wolfman clad in full armor brandished a mace, astride a colossal black wolf. Behind him, seated on a saddle, was an elderly witch with silver hair, clutching a dark staff.
"Level 35 Elite, Giant Wolf Fenrir, alpha of the pack, combat strength: 99,999!"
"Level 38 Elite, Timber Wolf, chieftain of the werewolves, combat strength: 180,000!"
"Level 40 Elite, the Lilac Sorceress, leader of the witches, with a combat strength of 150,000!"
"These three monsters are the nefarious trio dominating the Dusk Forest. They've wreaked considerable havoc on humanity and are infamously dubbed the Dusk Three Brothers."
The werewolf astride the massive wolf was none other than the Timber Wolf, the alpha of his kind and the most formidable threat according to Chu Xiaohong.
Chen Guo observed the creature. Despite being a mere level 38 Elite, it boasted an impressive 180,000 in combat strength. Its sly demeanor and apparent role as the linchpin among the trio certainly pegged it as the greatest menace.
Trailing the Timber Wolf was the Lilac Sorceress, who, while of a higher level, seemed slightly less potent. This sorceress reigned over the witches of the Dusk Forest. Chen Guo pondered the nature of her relationship with the Timber Wolf—could they possibly be mates?
If so, their romance was profoundly moving, transcending species and age—a tale worthy of the silver screen.
The giant wolf, Fenrir, was a behemoth, resembling a small hillock from a distance. But for all its intimidating size, it was the least threatening, with a combat strength shy of 100,000.
Sharing its name with the legendary wolf of Norse mythology, this Fenrir's prowess was, however, a far cry from its namesake.
The trio—Fenrir serving as the mount, Timber Wolf clad in armor and wielding a mace as the warrior, and the Lilac Sorceress as the spellcaster—formed a formidable triad. Agile and powerful, their synergy posed a significant challenge for any trial challenger, even those of legendary status.
Yet, Chen Guo couldn't help but see these three elites less as leaders of a transport squad and more as unwitting treasure bearers.
Their destitute appearance suggested slim chances of yielding any valuable loot or worthy duplicates.
Fenrir halted a short distance from Chen Guo, wisely choosing not to engage. After all, Chen Guo's Myriad Swords Spell was a force to be reckoned with, and Fenrir, a wolf that recognized true power, had no intention of facing the onslaught.
"Humans... When did they become so bold as to challenge me? When did they start daring to slaughter my followers?" Timber Wolf Fenrir seethed with rage upon seeing Chen Guo and the others, as well as the bodies of his fallen subordinates strewn across the ground. "Out of my generosity, I've permitted you humans to eke out your existence, yet you have the audacity to wreak havoc in my domain. You're truly seeking your own demise!"
