C125 The Camp Was In An Uproar!

Geh Pao sneered, "Xiaohong is lying on your behalf, and naturally, you believe her. But do you really expect us to think you've killed the timber wolf and brought its head as proof?"

Chen Guo replied confidently, "It's the truth. You've been confined to this forsaken place for so long that you've lost perspective on what's possible."

"If that's the case, present your evidence," Geh Pao challenged. "Prove your claim, and I'll not only retract my doubts and apologize, but I'll also bow down in gratitude. The timber wolf is a sworn enemy, a nightmare to us all!"

"I have no interest in your bows or kowtows," Chen Guo stated, holding up two fingers. "If I provide evidence, I only ask for two promises from you."

"What are these conditions?" Geh Pao inquired.

"Firstly, you owe Xiaohong an apology. She truly cherishes this place. When I first asked her to guide me to your camp, she firmly refused. She doesn't deserve your mistreatment," Chen Guo insisted.

"If Xiaohong's words hold truth, I'll certainly apologize," Geh Pao conceded. "I never wished to doubt her, but I must look out for everyone's safety. And your second condition?"

"Introduce me to your leader," Chen Guo demanded. "I have matters to discuss with him directly."

"Agreed!" Geh Pao exclaimed. "Should you produce the evidence of slaying the timber wolf, there'll be no need for introductions. Our leader will seek you out to extend our deepest gratitude on behalf of us all."

"Given your acceptance of my terms, behold the evidence," Chen Guo declared, extracting the grisly head of the timber wolf from his spatial magic artifact. "This head is irrefutable proof of the beast's demise."

The severed head was a grotesque sight, blood still dripping from its neck as Chen Guo held it aloft.

The onlookers were aghast.

"Is that truly the head of the timber wolf?"

"It's strikingly similar. It doesn't seem to be a fake at all! I'm quite familiar with the Timber Wolf. I'd recognize it even if it were reduced to ashes!"

"Did he truly manage to kill the Timber Wolf?"

Geh Pao's eyes widened in disbelief as he fixated on the Timber Wolf's head. After a long, intense gaze, he leaned in to take a sniff and, with a fierce determination, declared, "I can assert with unwavering certainty that this is indeed the Timber Wolf's head. That malevolent presence that clung to him in life hasn't faded, even in death! We have sorely misjudged the real warrior, the real hero!"

"We owe it to the warrior and the hero to apologize!"

"We're sorry for the misunderstanding!"

Leading by example, Geh Pao bowed deeply.

The other three human warriors followed suit, bowing their heads in respect.

Witnessing their ability to admit fault and make amends, Chen Guo's opinion of them greatly improved.

"You shouldn't be apologizing to me, but to Xiaohong," Chen Guo corrected them, "as I've mentioned before."

"Xiaohong, I'm sorry. Your uncle misunderstood you. Please, can you forgive me?" Geh Pao bowed again, this time to Xiaohong.

Startled, Xiaohong quickly stepped back, assuring him, "Uncle Geh, there's no need for such formalities. I understand you were just looking out for everyone's well-being."

"Knowing you understand means a lot to me!" Geh Pao, with tears welling in his eyes, exclaimed with emotion, "The Timber Wolf is dead at last. Our nightmare has finally ended. Thank you, brave warrior. May I have the honor of knowing your name? I wish to know who our gracious savior is."

Chen Guo replied, "I'm hardly worthy of such a title. You may call me Guangcheng. Now, may I proceed to meet with your leader?"

"Guangcheng, our esteemed savior, please follow me. I will take you to our leader this very moment! Carry the Timber Wolf's head with you, so that all may celebrate your valor! Your heroic deeds will surely rival those of the legendary Lin Suzhen!" Geh Pao proclaimed.

With that, Geh Pao led the group through the narrow passage of the canyon, arriving at its heart.

The canyon housed a settlement roughly the size of a village, composed of modest dwellings. At the village center stood a raised platform, topped with luminous stones that cast light across the entire area.

Despite the villagers' poor complexions and worn clothing, a sense of tranquility pervaded the village. Men toiled in the fields, women spun thread, and children played, yet it was clear that many bore the signs of hardship.

"Great news, everyone, fantastic news!"

"Our nightmare, the most notorious villain of Dusk Forest, the timber wolf, has been slain!"

"The brave warrior who vanquished the timber wolf is none other than Guangcheng. Let's give him a round of applause!"

"Long live Guangcheng!"

"Behold the head in his grasp, the testament to his valor!"

As soon as Geh Pao returned to the village, he began to shout, drawing the attention of all the villagers to Chen Guo and his companions.

Subsequently, under Geh Pao's lead, all eyes settled on Chen Guo, and then on the timber wolf's head that he held.

"The timber wolf is truly dead! My husband's death has been avenged! Our nightmare has ended! Thank you, Guangcheng, I bow before you in gratitude!"

"Hurrah for Guangcheng! Thank you for ridding us of the timber wolf!"

"Sobbing... The timber wolf is finally dead. My son, your death has been avenged! All thanks to Mr. Guangcheng. Please, accept my deepest bow!"

Upon confirming the authenticity of the timber wolf's head, the villagers erupted in excitement. They gathered around, dancing and rejoicing, releasing years of pent-up emotions and celebrating their long-awaited vengeance.

As they chanted Chen Guo's name and extolled his benevolence, he was hailed as a hero, receiving an extraordinary welcome in the village.

Witnessing this, Chen Guo was confident that his plans were secure. Whether it was to persuade the villagers to join Beginner Village or to gather information about Aerilon in pursuit of the Gate of Myriad Realms, success seemed assured.

Shortly after Chen Guo's arrival, the village's leaders came forward to greet him.

At the forefront was a towering, red-haired man, his body rippling with muscles, standing at 1.9 meters tall—a veritable giant.

"This is Zhao Jinrong, the commander of Cruel Camp, a level 40 elite with a combat strength of 180,000!"

This man was Zhao Jinrong, the chief authority of the area.

Zhao Jinrong's might was comparable to that of the timber wolf. Yet, considering the timber wolf's legion of monsters and two formidable allies, it was conceivable why even someone with 300,000 combat strength might struggle against the timber wolf. Zhao Jinrong's inability to defeat the beast was, therefore, understandable.

"Who was it that slew the Timber Wolf? Which brave soul can claim that feat?"

"Our savior is the one who vanquished the Timber Wolf!" Zhao Jinrong declared with palpable excitement, advancing with purposeful strides.

Trailing behind Zhao Jinrong were several venerable elders, their hair as white as the ancient snow. They possessed a fighting capacity on par with Geh Pao, yet they paled in comparison to Zhao Jinrong's prowess.
