Divorced family, Poor kid

"Jingle bells ..." class was over, Sarah pulled Hans out of the classroom first.

Emily called out to Martin: "Martin, I'm sorry about the other day." Emily lowered her head, not daring to look directly at Martin.

"It's okay, I know you didn't mean it, and I think I did a bad job too." Martin smiled lightly, his tone extremely gentle.

"No no, it's certainly not your fault." Emily heard him say and immediately waved her hand.

"So, why don't you and Sarah come to our basketball game this Friday and get you guys seats in the front row." Martin said with a smile and Emily nodded her head in agreement, it was always so comfortable to talk to Martin, it made you feel like a spring breeze.

"Don't say anything about this later, Emily will be embarrassed." Sarah said to Hans.

"Okay, I know, I just wanted to tease her." Hans scratched his head with one hand, hanging on for dear life.

It was soon seven o'clock on this Friday night, and Emily and Sarah and the other two in the dorm had come to watch the basketball game.

The gym was crowded, and Martin waved them over and told them their seats were in the second row.

"Hey, is he the young master?" Isabella asked excitedly as she pulled Emily along.

Emily calmly replied, "Yeah."

"He's kind of handsome." Isabella squealed as Emily and Sarah told her to calm down.

After taking their seats, the basketball game started right away. Information Engineering versus Computer Science, 180 per capita on both sides, the boys were mostly watching the ball and the girls were mostly watching the people.

Emily and the girls were the same, they didn't know the rules and couldn't understand the game, at most they could only tell who shot a few points.

"That's cool, that one's cool too!"

"That guy must be 185, so tall ..."

The three of them, except for Sarah, were all making a fool of themselves, Sarah gave them a blank look, when it comes to looks and skills, it's still Hans and Martin who have the upper hand, okay?

The game soon came to an end, with the Information Engineering Department leading the Computer Science Department by 10 points.

Sarah stood up and said to Emily, "Let's go, let's bring them water too."

The four girls came down to the court together, but it turned out that Hans and Martin were surrounded by layers of girls and couldn't squeeze in at all.

"By the looks of it, I'm afraid it's going to be hard to deliver." Rue tiptoed around.

Sarah saw Hans surrounded by so many girls and he didn't even look at her, she felt that Hans didn't care about her at all, obviously she came because he dragged her to the basketball game.

Sarah was so angry that she threw the water in her hand on the ground and ran away without looking back.

"Hey Sarah, Sarah, what's wrong with you?" Emily only noticed her when Sarah ran out the door.

"What's wrong with Sarah?" Rue asked suspiciously.

"I don't know, let's go check it out." Emily said and the three of them hurried out as well.

But Sarah ran so fast that the three, by the time they came out, they couldn't see her anymore.

"What's going on? Why did she suddenly leave? And threw away the water?" Isabella asked.

"You guys, it couldn't be because of the girls, could it?" Rue guessed in a whisper.

"You mean ...Sarah was jealous?" Emily was shocked.

All three of them sucked in a breath, Sarah was so high and mighty, they all wondered what kind of people she would like.

"No way ...," Isabella said hesitantly.

"Would it be Martin or Hans then?" asked Rue.

All three shook their heads in confusion, could Sarah be falling in love?

"Sarah, we're home." Emily opened the door to her dorm room to see a listless Sarah lying on her bed.Sarah didn't respond and the three looked at each other.

"Ask her?" The trio came closer to speak.

"Let's not ask her now, I'll ask her alone tonight." Emily said.

Sarah got angry and the air was low. emily also quickly washed up and nimbly got into bed.

It was late at night, Emily peeked out of the bed curtains, and sure enough she saw that in Sarah's bed curtains was a faint light, which she carefully pulled away.

"What are you doing, staying up all night!" Sarah was startled by Emily's sudden appearance.

"I couldn't sleep and thought I'd come and talk to you." Emily told her.

Sarah couldn't sleep either and was silent in agreement, the two of them squeezed into Sarah's bed.

"Tell me the truth, are you angry today because of Hans?" said Emily straight away as she lay down.

Sarah froze for a few seconds, "Hmph, because of him? No I'm not."

Emily knew the meaning of her words and smiled, "Just be honest with me, I don't know what you mean."

"Hans is so popular and handsome, he's definitely sought after by the girls, but yeah, they don't have the advantage over you, our Sarah, so pretty and smart, no one can compare." Emily continued.

Sarah reached out and turned off the small lamp, she snickered in the darkness, "I know, go to sleep, we have class in the morning."

Years have passed and Sarah still vividly remembers that night when Emily climbed into her bed to sleep with her.

The next day.

It was time for Emily, Sarah and Hans, Martin to rehearse again, but there was a delay in Hans' arrival.

"Martin, where's Hans?" Emily asked Martin.

"He seems to have been asked out by a girl." Martin replied and on the sidelines Sarah heard and got angry again.

"Since no one's here, I'm going to leave too." Sarah grabbed her book bag and left in a huff.

"Huh? What's wrong with Sarah?" Martin was a little confused.

"Hey, they're both gone, so we might as well go to the library for a while, come on, I'll talk to you on the way." Emily was helpless and grabbed her book bag as well, ready to go.

"Oh ..." Martin scratched his head and followed.

...

"That's what happened mino, you say, Hans won't be in love?!" Emily and Martin talked about what happened after the basketball game and she suddenly raised her pitch as she thought about it again.

"I don't know, he's always missing after basketball games." Martin said.

"It's over, won't that break up our foursome..." said Emily, saddened as well.

The two of them went to the library to look through the books about Romeo and Juliet, the seats in the library were already full and the students were studying quietly in the library. Emily, who had been noisy, was also infected by the atmosphere, and when she talked to Martin, she covered her mouth and whispered.Martin saw such a proper Emily for the first time and couldn't help but find her a little cute.

"Martin, you go check over there, I'll look over here, split up."

"Okay," Martin also lowered his voice and made an OK gesture.

Emily had only been looking by the bookshelf for a moment when she heard her cell phone vibrate, she picked it up and spoke in a low voice.

"Hey, Mom."

"What?" Emily's brain seemed to stop running for a moment.

"I said I'm divorcing your dad, who are you going to be with?" It was her mother's cold voice on the other end of the line.

Emily slipped to the floor for a moment, she didn't answer.

"Hello Emily, I can tell you this, I put so much thought into you, you can only be with me, don't you forget how good I've been to you." Emily's mother was still like that. She never gave Emily any choices, she always made them for Emily.

In Emily's memory, in the very beginning, her mother loved herself, and the family was sweet and happy. Until later, when her parents kept arguing and her father would even fight, Emily locked herself in her room and secretly wept.

Emily preferred to spend time with her friends than with her family, and it was then that she felt truly happy. After the fight, her parents' relationship became more and more distant until her mother became the way she was now, and Emily felt that her mother didn't love her now.

Her mother hung up when she was done and Emily let go of the phone, letting it fall to the floor with a clunk.

"Emily?" said Martin, sniffing over to her.

Emily turned her head to look at him, Martin saw Emily sitting on the floor, she looked up at Martin, her dark eyes filled with tears, her eyelashes fluttered gently, and two rows of tears flowed silently.Martin frowned tightly, he immediately sat down next to Emily.

"Emily, what happened? You talk to me, I'll fix it, who bullied you? You talk to me..." said Martin in a panic.

Emily looked at him and shook her head, burying her face into his arms, Martin paused for a few seconds but hugged Emily anyway, he patted her back as he gently stroked her head.

Emily whimpered, not being able to make too much noise in the library.

Martin felt a wet patch on his chest, it was Emily's tears, and they hurt his heart as well.

Emily was still sobbing, she was crying quietly, but sadly.

No girl had ever cried like this in Martin's arms before, he was at a loss for words, he felt impotent, Emily was crying so hard in front of him and there was nothing he could do about it. He hugged Emily tightly again, as if this was the only way to comfort her now.

After a while, Emily finally lifted her head from Martin's arms, and Martin tenderly wiped her tears.

"I'm sorry for getting your clothes all dirty." Emily had just cried with a slight sniffle.

"Emily, what happened? You talk to me." Martin frowned but looked at her with very determined eyes, he seemed to want an answer.

Emily still shook her head, "I'm not being bullied by anyone, can you not tell either of them about today?"

Martin's frown tightened, she was crying so hard, what was going on that she wasn't telling either him or Sarah and Hans right now.

"What is it about? Whatever it is, I'm willing to listen." Martin went on anyway, "I can keep it to myself if you don't want me to tell them. But you can talk to me, I'm your friend too, we can face it together." Martin looked into her eyes.

Emily still had tears in the corners of her eyes, and she looked at Martin with an innocent face that was even more heartbreaking. What was she going to say to Martin, could Martin understand her? , she would never have a complete home again.

"Martin, I will never have a home again." Emily's voice was soft, Martin's heart was shocked, his mind flashed Emily's words over and over again, she didn't have a home anymore.

Martin finally reacted, it was her parents who got divorced.Martin was silent, Emily was also silent, for a long time the two of them didn't speak or look at each other.

Martin hadn't been in a situation like this before, and he wasn't sure how to handle it properly.

He slowly stood up, then held out his hand to Emily, "Emily, get up first."

Emily expressionlessly took his hand and stood up. For the next few moments, Emily's eyes were lax, Martin had no choice but to pull her arm and walk, taking her to the Imperial Hotel.Martin asked the waiter to arrange a private room, he asked Emily what she wanted to eat, Emily shook her head.

"Emily, listen to me, when you're sad, you can eat something delicious, like sweets or something like that, it will make you relax a little bit, listen to me, eat first." Martin's tone was sincere and gentle.

"Then...feel free to have a bowl of instant noodles." Emily was still in a low mood.

Martin was somewhat helpless after hearing this, but still called the waiter.

When the waitress heard this, her pupils quaked, she looked at Martin and thought to herself, "Young master, this is a high-class restaurant, where can we find any instant noodles?" Martin knew her doubts and said to her, "There's no way, I'm really sorry to trouble you."

The waitress squeezed out a smile with difficulty, closed the door and left, spitting in a low voice, "What kind of girlfriend did the young master find? To eat instant noodles in the Imperial Hotel? That's crazy!"

Emily also remembered, and she could remember it for the rest of her life, that no matter what request she made, Martin would always fulfill her, would go along with her, and never blame her.
