Sirens - Part 2

'I've got it!'

SWISH

With a quick swipe of a claw on his finger he made small incision on his hand.

As the small amount of blood began to slightly cloud the water around his hand, Nereus circulated the sea essence in his meridians as fast as he could before deftly placing his hand on the skulls of all four skeletons leaving a faded bloody mark, one after another.

Using his clawed hand, he then drew a triquetraesque symbol on the center of the now bloody foreheads of all four skulls, one after another before pricking himself in the center of his forehead as well.

He then furiously circulated his sea essence within his meridians and directed the flow towards his forehead where a tiny pinprick of blood was already forming.

SIZZZLE

Almost as soon as Nereus directed the sea essence within his meridians towards his forehead the tiny pinprick of blood on it began to sizzle and glow a furious shade of red.

At that moment the triquetraesque symbol drawn onto the four skulls of the nearby skeletons also began to glow and sizzle furiously almost as if they were being engraved by a laser into the very marrow of the skull.

Nereus continued to imbue the small pinprick of blood on his forehead with sea essence before extending his mental perception as far out from his being as he could.

Mental perception was something all Sealockes possessed as it was instrumental to use Aqua Arts, however only those with exceptionally developed mental perception could use it to perform Psionics where one could defend and attack with it.

The Leviathan species, despite excelling in just about everything else, had fairly poor mental perception and as such they never trained in it. So right now despite now biologically being a merman it was taking an extreme amount of concentration from Nereus just to extend his mental perception out just 3 feet in front of him.

'Done!' he exclaimed as he felt his mental perception suddenly lock on to four points.

Upon his exclamation the mystical and glowing triquetraesque symbol on the four skulls began to slowly dim as thick viscous wisps of inky black smoke began to stream out of all the orifices of the skulls, while the red pinprick of glowing blood on Nereus's forehead began to move seemingly on it's own on his forehead."

Argh" he grimaced against the sharp burning sensation, "It's almost done... just a bit more"

The burning pinprick of blood had now transformed into a diamondlike symbol that was eerily similar to the one that could be seen on the skulls of the four skeletons.

Now done with it's transformation the symbol glowed dimly for a few moments more before cooling into a reddish looking tattoo at the center of Nereus's forehead.

Meanwhile the wisps of black smoke still escaping from the skulls' orifices began to coagulate and turn semi solid creating four floating ghostly apparitions that seemed to emit a low and mournful wailing sound.

The ghostly apparitions had no distinguishable characteristics aside from a pair of sharp and wicked bony claws and a black skull with a red triquetraesque symbol like Nereus.

Aside from that they looked almost like they were shrouded in and had inky oil for tails.

After some time of the wisps of black smoke escaping from the skulls' orifices it suddenly stopped, and the four chained skeletons rapidly disintegrated into motes of dust that were carried off by the currents in the water before quickly reforming right before his eyes.

Nereus heaved a sigh of relief at seeing the technique was completed successfully.

With these four sea wraiths under his control, he now effectively had four extra sets of eyes and ears.

Once they all became full fledged Sirens with the terrifying strength and speed, sonic affinity, and captivating Psionics to match, Nereus knew they would truly be a force to reckon with.

For now, however as sea wraiths they would have to be utilized carefully as a single well timed physical or psionic attack could destroy them.

However, after carefully looking at the wispy wraiths for a moment longer he noticed that one of them was slightly a different color from the rest. A few specks of dark garnet could be seen within its smoky innards. It was hard to notice but Nereus's sharp eyes picked it out upon looking carefully.

'Hmm... that's weird, I wonder why you're a different color from the rest' Nereus seemingly questioned the slightly reddish and menacing looking wraith as it stared at him expressionlessly. "Well I suppose you won't be able to talk for sometime huh? No matter, but oh, I should probably still give you all a name though"

Turning his attention to the leftmost wraith and working his way down he then said, "You shall henceforth be named Umbra after the great Leviathan assassin of the desolate era. You, Anima, after the famed and skilled Leviathanic tracker. And you, since you were the first to finish forming your name shall be Lusia after the great Leviathan Sealocke from the early Azr dynasty. And last but not least you shall be named Ultima, after my grandmother and the last Queen so far of the Azr dynasty Now, any questions?"

At that moment the four murky figures gave what looked like a nod but in all honesty could have been just them bobbing within the water.

But Nereus, ever the optimist, would take what he could get since aspects of their being such as emotions, and personalities would slowly take form as they matriculated in their Sirenic evolution.

'Patience is a virtue for a reason I suppose...' he couldn't help but think to himself.
