When Alric returned the house was dark and cold. His eyes instinctively stopped at Nora's door. The lights were off. She must have fallen asleep. Did she even notice if he was there or not!
He must have behaved like a jerk in her eyes. Feeling guilty, he walked to her door. But paused with his hand raised in the midair. What would he say to her if she opened the door!
"You have turned into a fool, Alric." Alric shook his head and returned to his room. But when he opened the door, he froze at the entrance.
His dim eyes brightened suddenly. The room which had always been cold and empty felt warm just by Nora sleeping on his bed.
She was sleeping at a strange angle. Perhaps she was waiting for him to return and slept.
His eyes softened. He walked closer to the bed and stared at her. She had not even worn a blanket.
Shaking his head, he covered her with a blanket and then tucked her hair behind her ears.
