Fell In A Trap

"Stand up and defend me!" Penny hissed with venom in her voice. "I have paid you so much for it. If you did not do it..:"

The defence lawyer titled his head to glance at her. "You are wrong. You have paid me to sit beside you and represent you. It was written clearly in the contract that I may or may not win the case." there was a vicious smirk on his face that left Penny petrified.

"You mean.. You mean!" the lawyer finally stood up under her shocked gaze. All their eyes fell on him.

Such a case! It had so many proofs and witnesses. The girl was not clever enough to hide her footprints at all. How would the defence lawyer present this case? Everyone wanted to see it.

The jury also waited patiently for the man to speak up.

"My lord, as the prosecutor said, no words could prove that Pennelope Stone is innocent. I have heard all the witnesses and saw the recording. I have nothing to say in return. I will accept every decision taken by the lord."
