'All that was just in a day?' Nora's heart sank. And the biggest horror was… it was not even serious damage in his eyes but a warning for her to not spout nonsense again.
"Nora?" Are you there?" the man asked, frowning. But soon a smirk formed on his lips.
"Mr Benard! Thank you for your reminder. I appreciate it." She was about to cut the call but his voice came from the other side.
"Nora! You are with his son. Yet he can not help you. You have chosen the wrong person." His voice contained pity, a soothing tone that would make one feel vulnerable.
She had felt it before. His charms, his actions.
"If it had been me, I would have fought the world for you. But never let you suffer." Nora's grip tightened. She could smell victory in his voice. Her lips curled into a sneer.
"Why would you do that? You do not even know me!" the man on the other side chuckled as if he expected her defiance.
