As Uncle Levi's challenge rang out, the wendigos descended from their sanctuary like a swarm of angry hornets. I'd never seen Uncle Levi fight before, and nothing could have prepared me for the spectacle that unfolded.
The first wendigo to reach the ground barely had time to straighten before Levi was upon it. A thin red aura, like a second skin of crimson lightning, enveloped Levi's right leg as he pivoted.
The kick connected with the wendigo's midsection, and I heard the sickening crunch of breaking bones.
The wendigo flew backward, its body folding around Levi's shin, and slammed into the trunk of a nearby tree with enough force to splinter the bark.
I blinked, and Levi was already engaging the next three wendigos. His movements were a blur, punctuated by flashes of that eerie red aura.
A right cross caught one wendigo in the jaw, the impact reverberating through the clearing.
