Boss's Account

"Phokk!"

The club driver hit the ball. Swing the white little ball away from the view.

Sunny morning at Wonder Golf Club not far from downtown in the big city of Argent.

Jason narrowed his eyes to see where the little ball fell. He hadn't held his clubs for a long time and felt like his hands were starting to get stiff. He never liked the idea of wasting time on the field that was fit to go on a picnic instead of sport. How come someone called this a sport? They are just sightseeing the view in an acre more green field. He handed his golf club to his caddy, a young man in a green shirt behind him.

His grandfather, Chief Commissioner Ian Garber, is currently conducting business negotiations with international businessmen. The elderly man, known as Farhan Riyadh, appears to be someone of significant stature. He is a wealthy businessman who will serve as his grandfather's gateway into the country's market. This is why Jason frequently shuttles back and forth for meetings and other crucial matters. It's exhausting, but his grandfather always emphasizes that if this were to become his responsibility in the future, he must take it more seriously this time.

The old man brought his very beautiful and talented daughter, who was great at golf, with him. Jason felt embarrassed as he realized he had lost two pars to her. He glanced at the girl, Juwita, who was smiling sweetly at him. Of course, he had never done any practice before. He was still lucky can hold the stick as a pro, and look like a pro. That's not even him at all.

"Hi" At least, as a gentleman, he should show his friendly face to the innocent girl who must be in the same state as him, caught in a situation like this.

Not long afterward at Selter on to the ninth hole.

Mr. Garber took a large gulp from the freshwater bottle handed over to him by his assistant, Mr. Tyus, who had also been with him since morning. Jason approached.

"Grandpa, it's already afternoon, I have a lunch appointment with my staff."

Mr. Garber glanced at his grandson for a moment, the old man unexpectedly hit him on the head.

"Aww, really, grams?" groaned Jason. He didn't dare to protest anymore when he saw his grandfather's fierce face. The old man enjoyed hitting him, he could only touch his head, which might have a slight bump.

"What event is this? What lunch? Can't you compare which is more important? Besides, you're making me embarrassed. Earlier I told Mr Riyadh that my grandson, the most handsome in the world, is very good at playing golf. But what I'm looking at now? You lost to his daughter. Make me become a laughing stock," Jason's face twisted, while Mr. Tyus secretly covered his mouth because he couldn't hold back his amused smile. The old man who'd become his grandfather's assistant for decades just cupped his hands in front of his stomach.

"You know that I'm so busy at the office, there's no time to play golf. What's this sport anyway? It takes up all day. Like I don't have anything else to do?"

Ian Garber's eyes widen at his grandson, what a pain in the ass. The young man always argues with him on anything.

"This is good for business relations. Tyus, sign Jason's name for membership, just watch out if he ditches off. If you must, dragged him here by yourself"

Tyus nodded.

"Yes, sir"

Jason still had a sour face, occasionally looking at his phone. He had a lunch appointment with Valiant and the others because the project they were working on was successful, but it looked like he couldn't come.

"Heh"

….…

Meanwhile, at one of the hotpot restaurants uptown.

"Let's warm it up!" Alex exclaimed,

The field team, Val, Anwar, and Alex were already sitting at one of the tables near the window. Even though the air outside is still bright and quite hot, Val and the others have long wanted to eat hotpot, and today is on Boss's account.

Alex and Anwar were busy putting meat and other things into the grill pan, Anwar poked Val's arm who had been looking at his phone.

"Eh Val, quit staring, come on, get your food, your plate is still empty."

Alex glanced at Val.

"Boss isn't here yet? Aren't you two coming together?"

Val pursed his lips, put down his phone on the table, and started putting some slices of meat and veggies into the pot. They order quite a lot since Jason said he will catch up with them later, soon. That's what he said in the message an hour ago. But, a few minutes ago, he texted him and said he couldn't join them.

"Boss had an appointment to play golf with the big boss. He said he can't join us."

Anwar stopped his hand and glanced at his two colleagues with big eyes. Then look at the food they ordered.

"Oh, then what about this? It's still on boss, right?"

Val raised his eyebrows and reached into his trouser pocket.

"Of course, the boss is here!" He took out a shiny black card and placed it on the table.

"You just need to say it from the first time!" said Alex relieved, otherwise they would have to pay for the food they had already ordered.

"Yeah, you scared us!" added Anwar.

"Yeah, Boss said, we can have whatever we like, let's eat lots of it!" Val exclaimed.

"As many as we like, yuhuu!"

 ....

The rain fell heavily all of a sudden. Some pedestrians run to the shelter to avoid the rainwater. The bustling street at no time became abandoned by the people with the rain that quickly made puddle on some street corners.

The air outside changed rapidly.

From the glass window that filled half the wall of Jason's office, the view outside was limitless.

The sky slowly darkened, until the rain quickly fell unstoppably, the raindrops hit the glass and after a while made everything wet. Not a single sound could be heard from inside the room but seeing the raindrops falling as if he could feel the cold air that was now creeping in quickly. That was the moment when the cup of black coffee that the office staff had just made before leaving work became very delicious.

"Ting Ting!"

There is an incoming message notification on his phone.

Jason approached his desk, sat back behind the chair, and read the messages on his cell phone.

He smiled, and Val's face appeared on the office group messaging service, today he was so busy that he hadn't seen Val since morning at the office. He left the apartment by Saturday morning with his grandfather and went home to their big house. He should have gotten back by Sunday afternoon, but an important guest visited his house so he went to the office directly from the big house. He hadn't met Val ever since. He missed the kid badly.

Several photos that Val sent as proof of their lunch last weekend.

"Mission accomplished!" Val exclaimed in the message.

With a big smile, Jason typed his message.

"This month's bill is swelling, it will be cut from your salary, okay?"

Not long after, messages popped in, from Alex and Anwar, who seemed to be protesting.

"Wow, we were trapped, guys!" Alex exclaimed.

"Boss, the one who ate the most was Val, let Val pay, I'm off now, bye!" Anwar exclaimed, followed by a funny emoticon.

"Eh, Anwar, watch out," exclaimed Val.

Jason didn't stop smiling, those guys, were very enthusiastic and funny.

"He"

 ...

The hallway was so calm with almost no sound. Fena just stood in front of the apartment door holding a quite large paper bag in her hand, that looked like food or something. She raised her head when he heard the sound of the elevator door being opened. Jason, who had just gotten out of the elevator, frowned, why was the girl just standing there?

"Fena? Why don't you just come in?" Jason asked. The girl smiles, and looks at the door.

"Hey Jason, Looks like no one inside, I've been knocking and calling Val's number, but he didn't answer."

Jason took out the passkey and widened the door.

"Iyan said he had some business to do so he came home a bit late, but as for Val, he's been home from work since this afternoon, he said he's off for a while, he's not back yet?"
