Seeing The Beast Again

As the two girls lay there in the grass, basking in the warm glow of the moon, Gwendolyn felt the exhaustion and tension leave her body. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes and letting the cool air fill her lungs.

"What a night," she sighed, turning her head to look at Dorothy. The girl's eyes were bright with curiosity, and her cheeks flushed from the effort of running.

"What is this place, Miss?" Dorothy whispered, her eyes filled with wonder.

"I don't know," Gwendolyn breathed, taking in the unfamiliar landscape. "It doesn't look like anything we've seen before."

The grassy plain stretched out in front of them, bathed in the gentle light of the moon. The sky was clear, the stars twinkling above them.

"It's beautiful," Dorothy whispered, her eyes filled with wonder.

"It's strange," Gwendolyn mused, her voice filled with awe. "This place is so different from the rest of the island."
