Chapter 83: Huo Wu - Can't Wait, Meet Me at the Hotel Tonight

Blazing Battle Team Preparation Room

Bang!

Huo Wu suddenly slapped the table, startling everyone around her.

Under the surprised gaze of Huo Wushuang, her brother, Huo Wu abruptly stood up and ran out without looking back.

"Sister, where are you going? The match is about to start!" Huo Wushuang called after her, but Huo Wu didn't stop.

"Captain, what do we do now?" a team member asked Huo Wushuang.

With a helpless sigh, Huo Wushuang replied, "We'll use a substitute." He was used to his sister's impulsiveness. Fortunately, the upcoming opponent wasn't particularly strong, so he was confident they could manage without Huo Wu.

Meanwhile, Huo Wu ran out of the arena and onto the street. After Divine Wind Academy's defeat by Tianshui Academy, she had finally made up her mind to find Su Bai. But since Su Bai hadn't come to watch the match today, she wandered the streets aimlessly, feeling a mix of determination and frustration.

Suddenly, Huo Wu frowned. She felt something was wrong. Despite walking the same street countless times, she couldn't seem to find her way out. She also sensed a fluctuation of soul power.

"Who's playing tricks? Show yourself!" Huo Wu demanded.

"You finally noticed," an elderly man with a staff emerged from a corner. "But it seems you're already too late."

"It's you! The team leader of Canghui Academy!" Huo Wu recognized him. As a participant, she had seen this man, Shi Nian, leading the Canghui team.

"What do you want?" Huo Wu asked sharply.

"Heh!" Shi Nian sneered, "Of course, I want to kill you."

"Despicable!" Huo Wu retorted. "Do you think killing me will give Canghui Academy a chance? Even without me, Blazing Academy would still defeat you. And you dare to make a move in Heaven Dou City?"

"Heh, if killing just you isn't enough, I'll kill a few more," Shi Nian said with a cruel smile. "As for being detected, look around. Where do you think you are?"

Huo Wu was startled. Looking around, she realized she was no longer in Heaven Dou City but outside its walls. Even if Shi Nian killed her, by the time anyone found out, he would be long gone.

This was Shi Nian's ability: to drag people into an illusion. Huo Wu had unknowingly fallen into his trap.

"Run!" was her immediate thought. She turned and fled. She was still young and a genius of Blazing Academy; her future was bright, and she wasn't ready to die.

"Do you think you can escape?" Shi Nian scoffed, striking his staff on the ground. The terrain shifted, trapping Huo Wu further in his illusion.

Huo Wu's face paled. She knew she couldn't break free from Shi Nian's illusion with her current soul power. Time passed, and disturbing images filled her vision—her deepest fears and worst memories.

This was Shi Nian's martial soul ability: to show people their most dreaded scenes, driving them to despair before he harvested their lives.

Shi Nian had used this ability to commit many vile acts. He believed he was invincible in his illusions.

"No! Please, no!" Huo Wu screamed, clutching her head in agony.

Watching Huo Wu's torment, Shi Nian felt immense satisfaction. He loved torturing talented individuals, finding joy in their suffering.

After a while, seeing Huo Wu completely broken, Shi Nian approached her, raising his staff to deliver the final blow.

Swish!

Suddenly, a blur appeared before him. A young man in white stood in front of Huo Wu, gripping Shi Nian's staff.

"What? How is this possible?" Shi Nian was shocked and quickly retreated. His eyes filled with terror. He had always believed himself unbeatable within his illusions. But now, someone had breached it.

"Is it you?" Shi Nian soon recognized the newcomer—Su Bai. Given his association with Bibi Dong and the scene where Shui Bing'er had bowed to him, many had speculated that Su Bai was a Titled Douluo.

Realizing he had attacked a contestant, Shi Nian knew he couldn't let this information spread. He had to kill Su Bai too. But knowing his own strength compared to a Titled Douluo, he felt despair.

"Oh?" Su Bai smirked. "You want to kill me?"

He could sense Shi Nian's murderous intent. But Shi Nian was merely a Soul Sage; what gave him the courage to try killing a Titled Douluo?

Without further ado, Su Bai waved his hand, shattering the illusion. Under Shi Nian's stunned gaze, Su Bai released his soul pressure.

"This power..." Shi Nian's face turned ashen. Overwhelmed by the immense pressure, he was forced to the ground, realizing the vast gap between their strengths. Su Bai wasn't just any Titled Douluo; his power was extraordinary.

"Please, spare me! I can offer anything," Shi Nian begged desperately.

Unmoved, Su Bai watched as cracks appeared on Shi Nian's body. The elder's face twisted in fear and regret. If only he hadn't taken such reckless actions for Canghui Academy's sake.

Boom!

Shi Nian exploded, leaving nothing but a soul bone behind.

Huo Wu slowly regained consciousness. Upon opening her eyes, she saw Su Bai standing before her.

"He saved me?" she wondered, feeling a mix of confusion and gratitude. The horrifying visions she had seen in the illusion had almost driven her mad. Su Bai had saved her, both physically and mentally.

"You're awake," Su Bai smiled at her.

Suddenly, Huo Wu lunged into his arms, hugging him tightly. Su Bai was momentarily taken aback but soon realized that she was crying.

Huo Wu, despite her usual fiery demeanor, looked stunning even with tears streaming down her face. Her beauty was undeniable, with her exquisite features, fair skin, and alluring eyes. Holding her, Su Bai felt her soft, curvaceous body pressed against him, her slender waist fitting perfectly in his embrace.

After a while, Huo Wu pulled away, her face flushed with embarrassment. "Thank you for saving me," she said softly, looking down.

Su Bai chuckled, "It's nothing. After all, we have an agreement. I wouldn't let such a beauty come to harm."

Huo Wu's lips curved into a smile. She suddenly leaned forward, kissed Su Bai, and looked into his eyes seriously. "I can't wait any longer. Tonight, come to the hotel and find me."

Su Bai was surprised but quickly grinned and nodded. This was an unexpected delight. He couldn't wait for the evening to arrive.
