Chapter three

As soon as Sophia woke up again, the caretaker and nurse stopped chatting and became professional again. Sophia just found out that Dr Segway had left already.

Well, if what happened was a dream, it would explain this. Because previously, Dr Segway had been attending her for nearly a week before he left. It must have been a dream. It must. Or else her whole life would turn out to be a lie.

After complete check up, the doctors told her that she was alright. No residual problems. Oh, the matter of not remembering what had happened before and how she suffered an accident, don't worry. Most patients don't remember that. Brain is special in that way that it hides all the gruesome details.

Well, it didn't explain the weird depressing dream at all.

Sophia made herself believe what happened before was a dream. If not....If not, it meant she had been reborn back to the time when she was still young. Rebirth! Turning time! No, she would not entertain that thought anymore.

Her father Mr Nathan Hart came in the morning, before going to office. A man who had celebrated his fortieth birthday just a year back with a lot of ceremony and pomp, he was fit as fiddle and looked to be in thirties. He took care of himself far more than he took care of the company. But don't tell that to him. He was trying his best to be the president of Harts Corporation Ltd. He was petty enough to hold the grudge. He was not too affectionate to any of his kids. So he didn't have much time to waste in hospital. It was an honour in itself that he came to visit her after she woke up.

Sophia tried her best to brainwash herself. Look, what she remembered was just a dream. Dr Segway didn't look after her for week or longer. He had already left before she woke properly. This is clearly different from what happened in the dream. And her father. He came with her grandparents the last time. But this time he came alone and so early in the morning.

Yes, in the dream she had suffered an accident when she was young and the same doctor had treated her. That's how she knew he was gentle person. The horrible life she lived was merely weird dream she had due to suffering from the accident.

Her wish that it was a dream broke inadvertently. It was by a song. She learnt she was in the world of pain later on due to a song. How tragic is that!

"Oh man, I just love his voice. How I wish he gives interviews and hand out photos. I could totally lick his photo clean." One of the attendant was talking near her hospital suite. Her high pitched excited voice had woken Sophia from her rest. Apparently she had come to see her classmate who was hospitalized and was in next room. Sophia had seen that teenager when she was taken out for basking in air and sun.

"Eww, gross!" The patient cried.

"Come on!" the young teenager said. "I bet you fifty bucks that you have his song in the playlist."

"No bet." The patient said vehemently. "I like his song. The gross part is you licking his photo."

"Oh! What would you do if you grabbed hold of his photo then?"

"I'll make a hundred copies of Shaun's photo and keep it in my room, my laptop, my phone, my everything so that I could look at his face all the time. I'll photoshop the pic so that we are a couple. That's how you fantasize."

"You go girl. You dream of such things even when you are sick."

"Can't help it. His voice is so dreamy when he croones 'Where are you? I'm still waiting for you here.' Platinum jubilee labels has no brain. How could they hide such a superb specimen?"

Sophia didn't hear the next part. She didn't realise that she could listen to voices from the next door when the suites in this floor were soundproofed. She was breaking down.

Sophia knew of the song and the singer they had mentioned from the dream. The top talent agency in the country - Platinum jubilee labels, indeed had a recluse singer who made chartbuster songs. It was revealed years later that Shaun was just a pen name and the singer was actually a rich heir, who had sung to fulfill a bet. That's why there were no autographs or photos of him.

But how did Sophia realise that what she suffered was not a dream but reality? Shaun was unknown entity before her hospitalisation. She had gathered all her memories till the accident. She really didn't know anything about Shaun. But she knew all sorts of details regarding him now. What she knew matched what those kids were saying to each other. Though she hadn't heard the song in this life yet, she knew the lyrics, thanks to her dream.

To confirm she searched online for the lyrics. It matched. So....

It was not a dream. She had suffered. Her family had betrayed her and pushed her to hell. Unknowingly, tears flowed from her eyes. She brushed them aside angrily. What use are the tears? If being a good girl, naive child had made her so miserable in her life, this time she would change it. She would change herself.

This was a chance. She knew what would happen later if she followed the flow. So she would swim against the current. This rebirth, this rare chance to correct her mistakes, she will not waste.

It was said that due to butterfly effect, even a single change would bring even bigger change later on.

If so, she will be a butterfly which will flap her wings millions of times. This time, the scum shall suffer. This was the pledge she made to herself as she wiped her tears angrily.

This world would witness the most heartless Sophia Hart. Just get ready.
