The Price of Freedom

"Eat your food; what nonsense in front of the child?!" Uncle, furious, blew his beard and glared, then turned to Lily with concern. "How is it? Is your foot alright? Uncle will accompany you to the hospital to take a look."

"It's fine. It's just a small sprain, and it's almost healed." Lily ate her meal, mulling over how to broach the subject on her mind. A moment later, she spoke up. "Uncle, how's the magazine's income these days?"

Auntie's alarm bells immediately went off. "How's the income? It's none of your business! You're a drag who still wants to consume our family's money?!"

Lily was speechless. Her aunt always took the conversation in the direction of a fight.

"Don't listen to your aunt. Are you short of money recently?" Uncle asked.
