The sky above was a tumultuous canvas of red and gold as the sun set, casting a surreal, chilling light over the battlefield. Roland and his team stood facing their adversaries, their faces etched with anger and determination. The air was thick with tension, the kind that precedes a storm.
Roland's eyes were fixed on Emily. His body trembled with rage, and his eyes blazed a fiery red. Just as he was about to charge, Kai grabbed his arm, stopping him in his tracks. Roland turned to Kai, fury burning in his gaze.
"Let me go, Kai," Roland snarled. "I'm going to kill her!"
Kai felt a shiver run down his spine under Roland's intense glare but held his ground. "Rushing in blindly will get us all killed," he said firmly.
"I don't care if I die. I need to kill that bitch!" Roland's voice was raw with emotion.
"And what happens to us if you die? What happens to our team?" Kai countered, his voice steady. "We need to be smart about this. We will kill them, but not like this."
Roland's breath was heavy, his mind clouded with rage. But Kai's words slowly penetrated the haze. He knew Kai was right. Blind rage would lead to their downfall. He nodded, albeit reluctantly.
Emily, hearing the exchange, laughed mockingly. "What's the matter, Roland? Lost your nerve? Don't you want revenge for that bitch Eva?"
Her taunt made Roland's team bristle with anger, but they held their ground, waiting for Kai's lead. Kai's mind raced, searching for a strategy. They were outnumbered, and a direct fight would be suicide.
Suddenly, an idea sparked. "Emily," Kai called out, "we all know only one team can win this round, right?"
Emily was about to retort when Juggernaut pushed her aside and stepped forward. "What are you getting at?" he demanded.
Kai smirked. "Every team is supposed to have five fighters. You guys clearly have more. We only have three here."
Juggernaut started to respond, but Emily interjected, "We'll kill you first and then—"
"Slaaappp!" Juggernaut's hand cracked across Emily's face, silencing her. She fell to the ground, shock and humiliation contorting her features. She looked up, about to scream at Juggernaut, but his furious glare made her swallow her words.
"Shut up, bitch! Never interrupt me when I'm talking," Juggernaut growled, his gaze shifting back to Kai. The slap was a small victory for Kai and his team, but they had to press the advantage.
"Enough talking. Let's finish this," Juggernaut said, moving toward Kai, his team following closely behind.
Kai, undeterred by Juggernaut's advance, spoke again. "What happened to the other girls on your team?"
Juggernaut paused, confusion flickering across his face. "What the fuck do you mean?"
Kai continued, his tone mocking. "I don't see them. Should I assume they died fighting for you, or did you kill them to lower the competition?"
Juggernaut charged at Kai, fury overriding his caution. "None of your business!"
Roland, waiting for this moment, intercepted Juggernaut's charge. "I've got this," he said to Kai, locking eyes with Juggernaut.
Kai's strategy was working. He had sown seeds of doubt among their enemies, and now it was time to exploit it. He instructed Roland to engage Juggernaut in a one-on-one fight. "Are you a man? How about a one-on-one fight? Or are you scared?" Roland taunted.
Juggernaut, triggered by the challenge, signaled his team to stay back. Emily, still reeling from the slap, chose to remain silent. Juggernaut and Roland clashed, their fight a spectacle of power and speed.
The battlefield erupted with the sounds of combat. Roland's speed and agility gave him an edge, but Juggernaut's raw strength was formidable. Each clash of their weapons sent shockwaves through the forest. Blood and sweat mingled as they exchanged blow after blow, their bodies accumulating cuts and bruises.
"Is this all you've got?" Juggernaut taunted, swinging his massive axe with deadly force.
Roland dodged, countering with a swift slash that drew blood from Juggernaut's arm. "I've got plenty more," he replied, his voice calm despite the intensity of the fight.
The battle raged on, neither side willing to give an inch. Juggernaut's brute force began to wane against Roland's relentless speed. The realization dawned on Juggernaut's team that their leader was losing. Panic set in, and Juggernaut, sensing his imminent defeat, shouted, "Attack!"
The second phase of the battle began as both sides launched full-on assaults. Kai and Lucy engaged Juggernaut's team, their movements synchronized from countless battles. David, still hiding, awaited Kai's signal.
The enemies' sheer numbers initially gave them an advantage. Kai and his team struggled, the tide of battle threatening to overwhelm them. Just as hope seemed to wane, a traitor emerged within Juggernaut's ranks. One of his team members, seeing an opportunity, struck Juggernaut from behind.
Juggernaut roared in pain, turning to see his own ally attacking him. "What do you think you're doing, you son of a bitch?!" he bellowed, slicing the traitor in half with a furious swing.
The betrayal weakened Juggernaut, and his team hesitated, sensing his vulnerability. "Emily, help me!" Juggernaut shouted, desperation creeping into his voice.
Emily, seeing her opportunity, smirked coldly. "You shouldn't have slapped me, you fucker!" she snarled, ordering her team to attack Juggernaut.
Juggernaut fought valiantly, killing two of his attackers, but the remaining blows were too much. Weakened and outnumbered, he looked at Emily with pure hatred. "You bitch! This is all because of you!" he yelled, charging at her with his last ounce of strength.
Emily dodged his attack, slashing his neck with deadly precision. Juggernaut fell, his massive body hitting the ground with a final, resounding thud. Silence fell over the battlefield.
Emily turned her attention to Roland's team, who were barely standing. "Now it's just the three of you," she said, a victorious gleam in her eyes. "Then I win this round."
She signaled her remaining team members, but suddenly, one of them struck another down. The internal betrayal was Emily's undoing. "Now, David!" Kai shouted.
A fiery meteor descended from the sky, crashing into Emily and her team. The explosion was deafening. When the smoke cleared, Emily was the only one left standing, injured but alive.
"You were supposed to be dead!" Emily screamed, disbelief and panic in her voice.
David emerged from hiding, his face set in grim determination. "Surprise," he said coldly.
The four of them advanced on Emily, their expressions hard and unforgiving. Emily, seeing no escape, tried to plead for her life. "It wasn't me! Juggernaut was the mastermind! He blackmailed me!"
Her words fell on deaf ears. Roland's blade flashed, and Emily's head rolled on the ground, her face frozen in a mask of disbelief.
The battlefield was finally silent. Roland closed his eyes, a sense of emptiness washing over him. "It's over," he murmured, though the victory felt hollow. "I should've made her suffer more."
Kai placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "It's over, buddy. We finally did it."
