Naiari, a bastard daughter who was abandoned by her mother, ignored by her father and tormented by her stepmother the queen and her stepsister. She is a nobody without a title, without any use until her father decides to marry her off.

In a callous move and with the help of magic, Naiari ends up getting married to the crippled king Kael that her sister was promised to.

Naiari discovers that there is more to Kael than his disability, he is powerful, astute and ruthless with anyone that crosses him. “Have you come to help me bathe wife.” Kael asked, his voice mocking and Naiari’s cheeks bloomed a rosy red of embarrassment.

“I am sorry your highness but I believe that is a task for your maids.” She said curtly, an unfamiliar tinge of jealousy annoying her as she remembered that the maids got to see him naked.

“Kael.” He said and she looked up at him in confusion.

“Call my name.” He demanded, his eyes hot as they concentrated on her lips as if willing her to open them and speak his name.

Naiari stepped away from behind James and smiled when she saw Ara standing before them. She had not expected to see him but now that she saw him she felt her heart flutter in excitement.

She noticed that her guards were standing stiffly and she wondered why they were acting that way.

"Your highness." Naiari curtsied then Ara raised her hand to his lips.

"It is a surprise to see you out here so early in the morning."

"I came out to enjoy a walk in the garden and hopefully see some flowers bloom."

"It would be an honor to walk with you then." He said and held out his arm.

Naiari first hesitated when she remembered that Kael had not seemed very pleased when he saw them together and Ara noticed her reluctance and he took a step back.
